FD, admit it: you cannot fix navy rank\invite\permit missions.

I want the whole Military Ranking system overhauled......as Michael Brookes hinted at way back in 2016.....to make Military Rank something you gain automatically by doing Missions from a Separate "Naval Reserve" mission board (in much the same way it was in Elite II & Elite III), with the Mission Difficulty relating to your current rank. Basically making an entirely military career a viability.

If you don't want Federal rank, there is a simple solution: don't work for Federation. Don't accept and complete their missions. It's that easy.

Alliance factions missions often deliver to Federal factions. Changes to the BGS make it so you gain reputation with the destination faction as well as issuing faction. It's actually very difficult to find a usable number of missions not delivering to a Federal faction when you're working the BGS in a notable Alliance exclave surrounded by Federal systems. So no, it's actually not that easy to not accept missions with a Federal faction as the destination faction, because you'll often only find two-three missions a day.

They should make the naval rank increase with years of service like a real military....:D

Until they can fix it though I guess it can be automatic.

I'd like to see ranking missions where you have to join up with a fleet and jump to a location and be in a major battle...Like a giant CZ with tons of ships and capital ships. Now that would be a ranking mission!!

I don't agree. Give us meaningful, challenging, fun navy missions like the 1984 Elite had. And not more RNG garbage like "steal clothing" (seriously?)

This is more like it! :)

Where that rank up matters/means something more than just one more generic task.

I agree with meaningful navy missions, but even then ranking should be automatic. I never heard of Army Captain who had to take part in some operation in order to be promoted to Major. Early promotions are usually a reward for an exceptional performance in the field.

I "meh".
(never had a problem; but I'm patient...especially in the knowledge that the rep keeps going up even if the Mission takes a while to appear).

I'd be lying if I said my initial reaction wasn't, "People want military rank for nothing? What is this, the US Air Force?"

*Yes, Air Force guys, that would be considered shots fired.

I can write a book about how the US military rank system works and how you get promoted. For Officers anything after O-3 (Capt) require requisites and going before a board. Enlisted anything after E-5 (depending on what service) you have a board also. Their are step promotions in the enlisted ranks for going above and beyond. There hasnt been a field promotion for Officers since Vietnam I believe. In recent years Military promotion has gotten very political and some of the requisites are very questionable....

This is very true. I've actually heard someone say at a ranking board in reference to someone's annual evaluation: "What does he do? All he does is come to work, does his job, then go home. Nothing else. [EXPLETIVE REDACTED] that guy."

Since 3.0 released:

PS4
Gained Empire rank to Duke
Gained FED rank to Rear Admiral

PC
Gained Empire rank to Duke

3.0 cant have been that bad for getting these missions:)

Might take time, but they will be back. Wing missions have already got a second pass as well as the mission boards.

Id expect rank/permits will soon to. I like the idea of them being follow on/chain missions. If they make it automatic i wouldnt really care though. They are just normal missions with the word naval in them.

Whah! It's tooooo haaard, I wantz an ez2win button!

Edit: Seems like a fairly simple reason why Navy rank missions may have been temporarily removed, as a consequence of ridiculously fast rank increases with the brand new, and not very well balanced (yet) mission reward system...

It would appear FDev have left the new pick your reward system in the game so they can test the actual impact in order to balance it properly, while temporarily removing a mechanic that might be adversely affected during the testing period...

Major faction ranking should not be as easy as it is now, the Cutter / Corvette should not be a quick weekend project and in hindsight the impatient may come to realise the only fun ruined by this being way too fast at the moment is their own...

Put away the credit card, learn some patience and delayed gratification.

*Braces for the inevitable millennial snowflake toddler tantrums*

Tip: Software is built in sub-routines, meaning if the new one doesn't work right the only options are a full rollback to a previously known working state or, mitigate any potential downstream damage until the floods caused by the new bits can be fixed.

Unfortunately a social science degree is unlikely to prepare one for tricky STEM logic.

I agree with some of the others that having a rank mission makes it a little more special.

I would like to see a automatic mission sent to your comms once you reach 100%
Or
Have locations through out the bubble that only give navy missions. You only get rank missions from capital ships.
