General / Off-Topic The grilled cheese of sandwiches

What is a toastie machine?!

Something like this : http://www.cheesetoastie.co.uk/toastie-tips/

I've never been able to find just the right thing in the USA - either they just toast the top and bottom, or they simply halve the toastie and don't seal the edges.

That is an unforgivable foul heresy.

Be careful with putting too much branston in toasties though - it can easily turn into vegetable based napalm which can, and will, explode all your face and hands and give you a pretty bad day.

Has to be Red Leicester cheese as well. Best melted cheese - EVER

Just had a grilled cheese with sharp cheddar, Irish cheddar and caramelized onions.
Yummy!

Have you ever had a grilled cheese sandwich? You know how the cheese is melty and you wanna eat it so you take a bite and it tastes good? Man that’s good stuff.

Pair that sammich with a bowl of creamy tomato soup and I'm in for the win.

Good times there!

I love cheese and baguette, but cannot stand grilled cheese, though I've never the variations mentioned here. The caramelized onion version sounds good....

Do I have this right?:
In the UK, a "grilled" cheese sandwich is actually toasted.
In the US, a "grilled" cheese sandwich is actually fried.

I put about a tablespoon of butter on each side and fry it up until crispy - the cheese is secondary. [big grin]
