Mooooar grind

Reduce all payouts by a factor of 10 please. I remember back in my day flying my sidewinder barefoot through the snow for at least 500 hours before I could afford a D rated powerplant. What is with folks these days? You should get up at 4:30 am, commute to your job at the coal mines/foundry/Marmite factory, work like a dog for at least 10 hours, drive home, choke down some gruel and log in to grind for at least 5 hours. Seriously, unless you press the J key and watch a loading screen for at least 30 hours a week you are unworthy of experiencing the joy of really slow pitch rates or more than 300 tons of bio waste. All these millennials just don't get it. Anyone who thinks paying full price for MY video game gives them the right to earn credits should take an ice cold shower and go smoke a cig in the blizzard and stare at the sun and think about whether they have suffered enough to be worthy of big slow ships.

When did 'grind' become part of our video games.
RPG's must be to blame.
I spent some time levelling up in games in the 00's but I do not recall it before then.
Who thought, 'I know lets make them spend an entire day doing the same task 1000 times over just to get X' And who agreed it?

100% agree op, except for your usage of the word grind. Grind doesn't exist, only gameplay. Anyone who doesn't enjoy E:D's amazing gameplayjust shouldn't play. Not only should they not play, but they shouldn't be allowed to play.

I propose that fdev implants dopamine trackers in every players head and if a player ever stops having enough fun while playing, their account gets deleted and they get a permanent forum ban. Then, finally us real fans of the game can finally enjoy this game in peace without.

At the very least fdev needs to implement a forum filter that replaces the word "grind" with "gameplay" and "grinding" with "playing the game." That way all the stupid, ungrateful whiners at least have to be honest about what they are moaning about like a bunch of childish immature unintelligent ingrates.

God this is getting really, REALLY boring. Play something else ! I wonder if people suggest in COD forums that there is too much first person shooting and not enough engineering. I might go back to Eve online and moan about there being too much strategy and not enough control over how the spaceships fly.

Everquest 1 is the earliest I remember... back when it had no quests at all... Should have been called Neverquest.

Surf the sea of tears.

Naah, I just want to be some spoiled brat that demands things to be handed on a silver plate and then qq how this game lacks features, is boring and such. So, where's my B/hr source again?

Exactly! Complaining about time sinks in E:D is like complaining about FPS mechanics in an FPS! Why don't all these idiots upset about time wasters just realize that E:D's is designed to require massive amounts of time to unlock anything! Take that away and there's no game left!

David Braben, CEO of Frontier and long time space-man, had this to say in an official statement:

"We have an amazing player community. The average play time among our 1.4 million players is 60 hours – that’s a massive 84 million player hours and counting. With the community’s feedback, we’re constantly making Elite Dangerous better than ever. We have incredible long-term ambition and we will continue to deliver on those ambitions. We will detail more exciting developments for Horizons very soon."

Well, when you put it that way, I can see the light.

That's over 9000 cumulative years.

Lol at the people who missed my point. I don't care about credits. The game is what it is. My jest was directed at the people who bicker over it.
