Please no more data resets

I have been through one reset and didn't see any problems with it. There will be more reset to come but they add so much to the game every time its like playing a new game. I don't see the point of using third party trade assistant tools it takes the adventure away from the game.

Hi All,

So after the data reset and a few delightful issues getting going again, i'm finally making money again and on my way to getting a decent ship. I'm wondering if anybody can confirm if there will be another data reset between beta and full game.

I'm praying to god that there won't be because I don't think I can take it again, and I think starting every player from the same point (mentioned as a reason in the last newsletter) is a moronic idea.

As a user who has had an amazingly difficult time getting going without the use of third party trade assistant tools, to me the idea of placing every player in the same boat, fighting over the same resources / ships in a conflict zone is just the worst idea. How many people playing the game for the first time do you think will leave because, like me, they just can't find a decent way to make money and are stuck with the starting ship.

With each restart you will progress quicker. You have already overcome much of the learning curve. You will be better off than those who come later and start learning for the first time while you already somewhat know 'the ropes'.
There will be a reset. You can bet every last credit on it.
Use this time knowing that. If you don;t want to test things you wouldn't in a final release at least use the time to do the risky things you would balk at doing if your bank account counts on it. You have less to risk now knowing you will lose it anyway and much more to gain by teaching yourself things you might not have the ability to do safely later?

How you approach it is up to you but I'd forget about begging them to not reset us if I were you as it's already been announced, confirmed and reiterated. Come Gamma we ALL will lose any progress we have made.

Come Gamma we ALL will lose any progress we have made.
They also reserved the right to perform a reset during Gamma if need be but hoped that it wouldn't come to that. I think it would have to be something serious by that time though, like maybe another credit exploit being found.

Would be a little bit unfair towards those people who only paid for the full game (and not the Beta) if there weren´t a reset before full release.
After all we (who paid for premium or standard Beta) already have advantage of having lots of practice in the game, when the game finally gets released.
If we also would be able to keep our ships/money earned in the Beta, this would completely create a 2 classes society in the E: D universe

In alpha and beta FD is trying different settings. In current beta, trading is very easy.
So I hope there will be one or two wipes.
Just have some fun trying different strategies while playing beta.

I started playing the beta this morning, with the Sidey and 1000CR. After one day I'm with a Hauler and 25k in the bank. Making money now is way easier than it was in Premium Beta. And I didnt even fire a single shot (my laptop gives me 5-25FPS). So no issue resetting IMO.

Don't play it like a game until it is a finished Game.
I ground my way through premium beta to get a Cobra and then realised I had nowhere left to go with the time remaining before the reset.
So this time around I'm just playing with different features. Yesterday I was running missions, today I've been doing combat and successfully pirated an NPC! 😀
All good fun but none of it matters until the game is at least in Gamma.

The game is not conceived for people of this sentiment. If it means a loss of players then that's too bad. The game has it's own principles of what it wants to be. It's up to the player to change their own attitude to get involved in the game, not for the game to be just right for them.
My very young memories of playing the original Elite were just of a big universe and flying through it, for a long long time, think I only saw one other ship to attack but had no hope to fight it, so just fled after a few laser shots. Then carry on into the vastness of space. It was cool. Never had negative thoughts about demanding more credits or weapons. Just excitement of being in space.
It should be an honour and pleasure to be lucky enough to have a go in the starting ship, anything else achieved a splendid bonus.
Elite should be a game good enough to never need anything other than the starting ship for years of game-play.

I've no problems with beta resets. The benefits of beta is that you can just go mad and try everything out, knowing there won't be any real consequences

Plus, whilst you are going mad and doing everything, you're also more likely to find those annoying bugs that the dev team need to know about

Hopefully, though, there won't be any resets when gamma comes out, as that's pretty much the finished game stage.

It will be one more reset. Both when it comes to stats and our ingame credits,, Michael talked about this in the latest twitch.
When gamma kicks in.

But that will be the last, as gamma is threated as a pre-release and all thos kickstarter rewards will come as well.

And I doubt we will se any wipe during beta. Just when gamma comes.
