Finally - Doomsday and retreat to Colonia?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=43oOTpg-GK4

tl;dr: Pollux listening post recites messages in french that were spread short before D-Day in WW II.

So I have a little prophecy:
Since the introduction of Colonia I thought this is for a reason. I speculated that we all will have to retreat one day ... to Colonia.

And the announced overhaul of eploration fits wonderfully with the necessary expansion of Colonia when lots of ships and ppl from the bubble arrive.

Poor powerplayers ... [blah] ... but that´s fate. Similar happened to the twelve colonies in Battlestar Galactica.

PS: I knew the Thargs are French :D

You know, I've got the major engineering done.

I'm not trying to make a top tier PvP ship. Certainly wouldn't fly a Cobra if so... But the old girl is definitely a fantastic PvE ship. I've fought everything from bandits to wars to aliens.

I think I'm ready to go.

There's not going to be major anything, ever. At this stage, I don't think FD have the...what's the word...minerals.

They were adamant on not removing grandfathered items even when the vast majority of beta testers in the beta forum actually took the time to post and say they'd be ok with it, for the greater good of the game.

Do you think they'd ever consider doing anything to the bubble, if that might end up upsetting even one single pink space sweater potential buyer?

I keep going back to the FDEV Expo interviews. Where the guy said GO EXPLORING. And he gives a stern look and says it several times.

I have a feeling they drop multiple hints about stuff ALL THE TIME. For multiple issues within the game. And for upcoming features.

Its funny if you go back and watch stuff thats been released already. And some of the stuff they said before on live streams and what not.

So yeah, If you dont want anything to do with the thargoids. MY ADVICE IS TO GET THE HELL OUTTA DODGE.

Colonia seems like the best place to go.

I'd absolutely love a large scale war. Maybe we will just have to defend 60 systems at once each week as loss of the bubble comes closer. A cataclysmic event would sure spice up the game A LOT. I will be there to defend the bubble, where will you be?

Whose to say that Colonia isn't just a trap. Maybe the whole idea was to build something up just to tear it down. There is no compelling reason to be in Colonia. Unless things have changed dramatically since I was last out there. As far as I'm aware the outfitting is mediocre, shipyards are limited and no engineers.

As for the devs telling us to explore, wasn't that Michael Brookes? Last I heard he had been moved from E: D to head up the JWE team. Anyway if the wanted us to explore, they should have given us the tools to explore and not just set up an overcomplicated treasure hunt game for that bunch of Bletchley Park wannabes from Canonn.

They can drop all the hints they want. Until they give us some way to reliably find things in this game beyond scouring every single inch of every single planet in every single system with our eyeballs, while our graphics settings are turned down to Nintendo-64, WE STILL WONT FIND ANYTHING.

Exploration needs GAME MECHANICS. You know, those things that let players actually interact with, and obtain useful feedback from, the worlds game creators create. It shouldnt be TOO hard to find examples. Literally every other modern game has them. Even ones with enormous worlds. For some reason, its only Elite in which they mostly dont exist.

I swear to god the dev steam, or at least its leadership, think this is still 1984 and we are playing the game on a Commodore. I mean, c'mon guys. Go Exploring? With WHAT? The game has been out 3 years and less than 1% of the galaxy has been explored. No one was able to find Alien stuff until you pointed Cannon at them, and its all because YOU WONT GIVE US PROPER TOOLS with which TO explore.

Most likely because any effective tools would remove all effort entirely from the activity because there are no game mechanics to speak of. There is only scale of size as a barrier for exploration.

Good news is they did say it was getting buffed, along with mining at the end of the year.

im all for it. Never been an explorer myself. It feels like the old windows screen saver.
