Tricked enemy pilot to drop shields!

You assumed that he assumed, or maybe he did the only thing he could to try to survive besides logging to PG. I'm sure if you didn't go silent the result would be the same. Good job killing a t10.

You're absolutely right, this was not a trickery at all, he would have rebooted or exit to main menu regardless if I kept shooting or not. I'm silly I tricked someone to think they were safe by going silent running. Thanks for making me realize this tactic is pointless, I should just resume shooting out their plant to drop their shields, because making Cmdrs feel safe enough to reboot is pointless.

Hmmm. Flying a Courier against a T10 (a ship that can be well armed and armoured).
Sending a message before attacking to a powerplay enemy.
The pilot of the T10 was a novice and was making a lot of mistakes which cost him the ship.
Using a legitimate tactic (silent running) to lure a CMDR into security.

I see nothing despicable at all in this vid. Certainly no ganking.

Fly in open, fly under colours, get shot up by an enemy. Working as intended :S

That just means he made the kill outside his power's jurisdiction. So, per PP RP, he was advancing his power's cause by going on the offensive and taking the fight into enemy territory.

It baffles me that you can't conceive that there's a difference between someone's real life personality and how they behave in a piece of escapist fiction. Screaming "sociopath" because people enjoy blowing up other players is like me claiming I got PTSD because I killed so many enemy soldiers in Battlefield. I think it's more an issue of people that try to make that claim having a looser grasp on the difference between fiction and reality, and invest too much of their emotions into fiction.

And it got him 0 Merits and didn't benefit his Power in any way...

You can toss "RP" crap as much around as you wish. Gankers will be Gankers, no matter how many excuses they or their supporters will frantically try to hide behind.
It's btw. one of the most common tactics (behavioral sciences) for people with lower motives to attempt to hide them behind whatever strawmen or smoke&mirrors they can find.

If >any< of the presented "RP" excuses were valid, we
- wouldn't have this talk today
- because noone would have recorded nor uploaded the footage
- and because noone would have come here to beg for attention and open a typical "Mom! Mom! Look! I ganked someone! Look!" Thread
(oh, and it's a very old & common tactic for Gankers to temporarily pledge to any suitable Power before going for a kill in specific Systems in order to pretend they'd have an actual in-game or RP reason for the engagement)

I've been pledged to ALD since Power Play came out... been combat patrol in Fed space this for over 2 years... even made into GalNet during the Pirate Wars... https://imgur.com/H7RibzR You can search me in reddit, youtube and throughout this forum that I've always been a loyal Imperial player and have no quarrels with neutral ships, although sometimes, they're the ones provoking the fight before C&P came out because I became wanted taking down enemy ships.

In Power play, both Imperial and Federal logistic ships are targeted and destroyed, there are casualties in both sides. I'm simply playing the game how it's intended. Before power play came out I played in Open, doing a lot of mining, I was ganked for no reason, because they were "hungry". I was mining back when I had to scoop fragments manually. Combat on occasion, but it was boring alone, sometimes I'd reach out to other ships nearby to assist me in taking down big NPCs.

I encountered a member of Lavigny's Legion when delivering mining materials in Open Play during a CG. They were defending traders bringing supplies and asked me to wing up with them so they can come to my aid in case I was interdicted. I looked into this group and soon enough found myself joining in their patrols and undermining operations.

I discovered the use of DBS as a viable stealth combat ship during the Pirate Wars. It was perfect timing because power play gave Archon Delain a useless power play weapon that did no damage to hull. After the war ended, our long range stealth crafts began focusing efforts against the Federation. Back then the main source of income were bounty hunting in RES sites. Our stealth ships excelled once again at conducting scouting missions and coordinating ambushes within the asteroid belts. We used rails guns to alpha strike shields then at the time, torpeoes were simple, faster and hit harder, with no arming time, we could drop these ordnance point blank with deadly results.

These raids alerted Federation squadrons to begin patrolling their own RES and also raided ours.

When new money exploits appearing everywhere, and RES hunting died out. But this brought a big boom to large ships piloted by new pilots that have yet fully understood combat. It took about 2 years for majority of the community to catch on reverb and began increasing shield generator integrity to allow their ships to survive 4 direct hits of torpedoes.

Enemy fortifiers also knew that if they kept flying away from me, that my torpedoes would never catch up to hit them, so they were free to fortify at will and no risk destruction. I opted out of using FDL / FAS, or any large ship for that matter to take out fortifying ships, it would've been too easy, instead I chose Viper Mk III or similar size ships to try to at least level out the playing field, even if they were using the big-3. If they had a superior ship, i'd use an inferior one to give them some chance.

When the new C&P came out, it made power play even more enjoyable, I can no longer be wanted for engaging in power play activity, a nod from FDev to take part in. Cmdrs that are not pledged will also start ignoring us because our ships won't be wanted and keep themselves from getting involved in our operations. Now with the introduction of Flechettes, the patrol now extended outside of their HQ, especially with a hybrid stealth Courier Build with all of its 4 utility slots we could be equipped with kill/wake/cargo scanners with a big fuel tank and good jump range. We can now observe enemy traffic at stations and follow them out of the system once they hi-wake. This also applies for any no-faction ships with a bounty.

Some pilots in the Legion patrols our friendly control systems looking for under miners, some goes to Expansion systems to fight to take control of it. Others are delivering fortification supplies as do our enemy. My mission has always been do disrupt enemy logistics and provide scouting reports on enemy activity.

I appreciate your response and providing me with your free professional psychological assessment of me as a gamer. I look forward to your continued positive contribution to this community.

I am not a pirate ,a PvPer, or approve of this, but as far as I can see the OP did nothing wrong or illegal.
Morally ? well that is a subjective matter and we all differ on that :)

Wow, people already accusing someone for being ganker and sociopath for engaging PP targets aligned with the enemy... Clearly powerplay was created with an intention to provide pvp commanders with some direction and help them find combat that is a "fair game". If anything, it might help to reduce random ganking around high sec space. Calling somebody a sociopath for attacking players that have made a CHOICE to be flagged for PVP is just pathetic.

Based on my previous kills, whenever I destroy the thrusters, the enemy would just drift helplessly while I shoot its power plant with Flechettes. This time, I stopped shooting once thrusters went out. I turned on silent running and backed away so I will drop off his scanner and will appear like I'm out of range. If I had kept the pressure and kept shooting, he wouldn't have considered rebooting because his was still in imminent danger.

So by going silent, he could no longer target me to determine range. On his scanner I would appear un-resolved and out of range. So he must have assumed it was safe to reboot, but in reality, I was well within firing range, just not detectable. That as the trick to have him drop his shields while saving Flechette ammo.

So he was dead either way, but this way you saved a bit of ammo. Exciting stuff.

This is the curse of pvp videomakers in Elite : Dangerous

- make a video showing destruction of a lower ranked CMDR / semi newbie --> get called names
- make a video showing destruction of experienced / engineered CMDR --> video is 30 min long and nobody will watch it to the end

Hahahaha!

The very definition of armchair psychology...

The very definition of basic psychology. So basic, it's considered common knowledge...but you could even read it up on Wikipedia if you still need to fill in a few blanks.
A little education won't hurt. You can do it :)
