Do Solo/ Co-op Players have a Future in Elite?

If you play PP in solo and don't like open for reasons (no offline, lack of PvE, lag, rubber banding, latency), removing it means you have to join a mode you don't like to enjoy that content. FD will be removing that freedom of choice because they lack the thinking skills to come up with a better way to prevent cheating in open. :)

I just wonder what the original intention behind removing a substantial pillar of gameplay from approximately half of the Elite Dangerous community was?

Removing ANY establish Gameplay feature froma game is ALWAYS controversial...many times more so if it is taken from the playerbase as a whole and given exclusively to a subset of the player community...
If it had been done with the intention of merely improving Powerplay don't you think that simply making Powerplay MORE attractive would have been the better option...rather than simply leaving it exactly as it is...and just walling off half of Elite players from it...
Of course it would...
So one can only conclude that perhaps their intent isn't so much to improve Powerplay...as i is to drive Players into open and out of Solo/co-op modes...
Now that's obviously conjucture, when taken in isolation...so is there any evidence to support it...
What? Like substantial new gameplay being added to the game that is for Open only ??? (WIng Missions, Multi-crew, CQC) yup...that's happenening
How about extensive new development being focused on Open only features...things like Fleet Carriers and Squafrons...yup...that's happening too...
It certainly begins to look like there's a wider agenda here...to encourage open players and run down the solo/co-op player base...
What's that I hear the developers have openly and on record STATED that they want to see MORE players in open (and LESS players in Solo/co-op modes)
Well I think that answers ALL questions about the agenda Frontier are pursuing here....

Half the players lmfao

You know, I'm genuinely curious. Does someone have a link to a dev post claiming all modes are equal, and what they mean by that?

INTRODUCING...Season Three *bombshell*

You knew it was coming. You want it. You need it. Thought you were sick of all that trading/mining/exploring/bounty hunting and believed you've already seen everything Elite: Dangerous has to offer? Well, you'd better be sitting down. You'd better be holding your cup with both hands. Your blood-glucose levels better be in check. Because...

...we're now announcing the next step forward, bringing us that much closer to total PvP killfest homogeniety. INTRODUCING:

EDBR. That's right: Elite: Dangerous Battle Royale.*

Watch as the human-occupied bubble shrinks before your very eyes. But don't let your gaze linger too long, lest you be left behind within the Thargoid swarm. Vie to be the last man standing as you battle it out, no-holds-barred, throughout human-occupied space, killing anything that dares even to move. Find Unidentified Signal Sources to acquire new weapons, replenish armor levels and ammunition and even acquire randomized Engineer upgrades. Will you get a God Roll? Up your killscore and earn streaks to improve your chances.

*all other modes of play will be discontinued.

ELITE DANGEROUS BATTLE ROYALE. Coming....tomorrow evening after I'm done drinking this six-pack, because seriously this ain't too hard to implement.

Good Lord. Really? Perhaps hold breath whilst stomping feet. How, in any way shape or form.is this constructive? And does anyone think such a mature response to the developer considering options is warranted.

It's okay. Have a fit. Get it out of your system i guess. I don't even. For reference, no-one has a future if the developer is unable to progress changes and the game continued to atrophy as each change is shouted down and commanders take personal insult each time; which mode becomes irrelevant, then.

There isn't. The closest thing you will find is this quote from Michael Brookes:

From the initial inception of the game we have considered all play modes are equally valid choices. While we are aware that some players disagree, this hasn't changed for us.

"Modes be equally valid choices" has been morphed into "all modes are equal".

This can be found on a wall of text post that is shoved down anyones throat when they suggest all modes are not equal. If it isn't on the wall of text, it most likely does not exist.

I figured as much. Saying all modes being valid choices is a good bit different than pledging that all modes will remain equal forever and ever.

Solo/Group players have the ENTIRE goddamn game to themselves.

These threads are ridiculous.

Nope. Solo doesn't have ANY wings, muticrew and CQC. Neither does it have Open. Why should a mode you decided freely you will never use (yeah right) be given less than all the game because of that?

OK, so since one complaint is that it is "unfair" for solo tohave PP playing going on compared to Open PP play this is irrelevant, because not all modes are EQUAL. This is therefore proof that there is no point there to address. So what were your other complaints about SoloPP? We don'thave "It's not fair" any more. Was there another?

To complain about lack of wings and multicrew in SOLO mode is intellectually dishonest.

You are very fond of the words "intellectually dishonest." You might wish to try expanding your vocabulary. It would make your arguments less easily dismissed.

Except it is not at all dishonest when the complaints are "But I can't seeeee youuuuuu!". You can't pewpew me if we dont instance. All that solo is is a guarantee of a different instance from you. But Open is no guarantee we will EVER meet.

And since you said all the game was open to solo, a bit of the game that isn;t open to solo is quite relevant.
