Is there any plan to add Gimbaled variants to the Experimental Weapons that have turreted versions? Being forced to choose either Turreted weapons that deal pitiful damage, or Fixed weapons that I'm awful at aiming with has prevented me from going ham on the Thargoids.

I'm using a controller to play, and I really cannot get good with fixed weapons, sorry. :/
Even a "it'll happen in a later update" would be great to hear!

"Thargoids continue to be an intergalactic menace!"

Really? That's it? That's the best someone could come up with as justification for thargoids? Considering its the only one we have from frontier so far that sentence is somehow fitting. Though thinking too much about it the honesty of the person at the keyboard is probably a damning statement.

Also boo no lep goodies, but not really. Why not just not bother anymore and give a monthly stipend of store credit for skip skins? Problem solved.

Looking forward to it, time is flying this year.

So no actual missions from Tech Brokers, just new large variants of the same weapons and just 1 new type of wing missions. Yet another combat ship...

My "meh" feeling just grew a little.

Actually the only bit I'm interested in checking out is the interaction with installations. I just hope the loot will be worthwhile. Otherwise - another meh, just like mega ships interaction :(

Tech Brokers will allow commanders to unlock large weapons versions of the existing guardian tech weapons. These Tech Brokers will issue blueprint requests to collect Guardian data as well as materials and then, once delivered, will unlock certain Guardian modules of weapons for purchase. Will you turn you weapons on Thargoid or use them to pirate rival Commanders?

So no Tech broker missions for those getting excited.

Are you sure that the ship in the announcement video is the Challenger.

You make a good point, and that's what I've also been thinking. I imagine FDev is baiting the Krait and making the community think it's the Challenger.

The Krait was produced by Faulcon DeLacy, which is an independent manufacturer. Lakon having already partnered with the Alliance to develop the Type-10 and Chieftain, so it most likely means the Challenger is also developed by them. If so, this makes be excited for what it might be.

Perhaps one to...

Edit: The Challenger is revealed in a PC Gamer article.

New Wing Missions. If wing missions were tuned to be attractive for solo players too then I might look forward to this, but since they aren’t, this is meaningless to me. In fact I dread having the mission boards further diluted with missions I won’t ever fly.

Why, in any logical thought process, would a WING mission be tuned for a solo player? It’s a mission type meant for a wing, which is made up of multiple players. This is by definition not a solo activity.

I honestly question if posts like this are oblivious to their absurdity or just simply trolling.

Actually, after reading the details a few times now, there isn’t anything listed for me to look forward to in 3.1:

  • New combat ship, I’m not a combat player so meh.
  • Tougher Thargoid Scouts. I like the Scouts because they are easier and more my skill level, I’d rather have better incentives to fight them than harder opponents. Hopefully they don’t get too tough or the point of having Thargoids for the below average player to fight is lost.
  • More Tech Broker weapons. Again I’m not a combat player, so meh.
  • Installation interactions like Megaships. Again, I’m a non-combat player who isn’t interested in breaking the law, so nothing for me here at all.
  • New Wing Missions. If wing missions were tuned to be attractive for solo players too then I might look forward to this, but since they aren’t, this is meaningless to me. In fact I dread having the mission boards further diluted with missions I won’t ever fly.

If this is all 3.1 is then it has absolutely nothing for me to get excited about, sadly. I’m happy for everyone who is getting new content though. I’ll just keep playing other games while I wait for Q4 I suppose.

I agree, entirely.

Why do wing missions, which are not intended to be done solo, show up at all in the Solo mode of the game?

In any logical thought Frontier would not create content solely for multiplayer but would design said content to accommodate ALL players, both solo and multiplayer alike. This could easily be accomplished by converting wing missions into shareable missions, designed to either be flown solo or in groups. Have one lump sum reward for completing the mission, and if you manage to do it solo then you get it all, or in a wing the reward simply gets divided up, possibly with a bit of a bonus to sweeten the pot.

As a mostly solo player, the exclusivity of much of Frontier’s development, including wing missions, bothers me.

You are correct though, I do expect too much, and my frustration is more due to me expecting more from Frontier than they are apparently capable of. My bad.

My first thoughts as that was being asked for was, echos a lot of whats been said already. moooooorrr pew pew and all that goes with it.

That and

I really hope FD have sorted out the way to get these.

Also if this is it, I dont know was sort of expecting more or did I miss there is a lot more to come bit.

Six months ago sir, time to get some info I think.
Gamescom & Frontier Expo will be the times when FDev make announcements for end of 2018 updates, e.g. Beyond Q4 update, and "Premium Content" for LTXP owners

Gamescom may even be reserved to Beyond Q3 & Q4 only.
