News Elite Dangerous: Beyond - Chapter Two Release Date

Why do wing missions, which are not intended to be done solo, show up at all in the Solo mode of the game?

In any logical thought Frontier would not create content solely for multiplayer but would design said content to accommodate ALL players, both solo and multiplayer alike. This could easily be accomplished by converting wing missions into shareable missions, designed to either be flown solo or in groups. Have one lump sum reward for completing the mission, and if you manage to do it solo then you get it all, or in a wing the reward simply gets divided up, possibly with a bit of a bonus to sweeten the pot.

As a mostly solo player, the exclusivity of much of Frontier’s development, including wing missions, bothers me.

You are correct though, I do expect too much, and my frustration is more due to me expecting more from Frontier than they are apparently capable of. My bad.

Completely agree. All missions should be shareable with a portion of the reward going to each member that is a part of the wing, then add a time bonus, the quicker you do it in the better the bonus. Then it is easy to scale and we won't have these issues with just wing missions showing up all the time.

Hopefully they will have changed it to be like that as it would make much more sense.

(insert generic pacifist/solo player complaint here)

Interesting, will have to wait and see on the 28th. I have no hype just waiting.

Does this mean combat payouts for missions and bounty hunting have been looked at or is that false hope?

Fingers crossed hunting goids becomes lucrative.

Thanks for the info Will.

Sorry to be negative, but the Alliance Challenger is another combat ship? That's three straight up combat ships in a row added to the game (T10, Chieftain, Challenger). Can we please get something new for the rest of us to fly too someday?

THIS. So much this!

And while we are at it: What the hell happened to the mission creation system? For weeks now, I get more or less only "kill missions" from all factions in a lot of different systems - the worst one I had just a few days ago, when literally every minor faction in at a station in one system had between 8 and 17 missions available (I think the system had 5 or 6 factions) - and all but FIVE of them (that's the count from all factions combined!) were combat missions (and most of them "kill missions" ones).

Maybe it's time that Fdev remembers that Elite is not supposed to be a "space COMBAT simulator", but a "life in space" simulator!

Just my 2 ct.

Cheers,
CMDR Igor Rock

New ship(s?) some new game play - nice little update, thanks for all your hard work on my favorite game :)
BTW: I've been trying out the "new" trading tools, I never thought I would enjoy trading but these tools make it really enjoyable imho, nice job!

"Sooner than most expect" a.k.a literally at the very deadline of the initially promised time frame, 3 months to fix the buggy FSD Boosters and the new ship is another combat vessel instead of e.g. multi-purpose. Wow.. just wow.

You make a good point, and that's what I've also been thinking. I imagine FDev is baiting the Krait and making the community think it's the Challenger.

The Krait was produced by Faulcon DeLacy, which is an independent manufacturer. Lakon having already partnered with the Alliance to develop the Type-10 and Chieftain, so it most likely means the Challenger is also developed by them. If so, this makes be excited for what it might be.

Perhaps one to...

...challenge the big 3?

Edit: The Challenger is revealed in a PC Gamer article.

Its like a Chieftain almost fell into a black hole and barely escaped but was stretched out from the gravity.

Why, in any logical thought process, would a WING mission be tuned for a solo player? It’s a mission type meant for a wing, which is made up of multiple players. This is by definition not a solo activity.

I honestly question if posts like this are oblivious to their absurdity or just simply trolling.
I think the point he's making is that there are almost no solo trade missions on the boards anymore. Most of them are wing trade missions, even in solo mode. I haven't done any of them yet, but it looks like they're paying less than the solo missions used to. Correct me if I'm wrong, but in old solo trade missions you could get paid 1 mil for 50 tonne cargo, but now, in wing missions you get 2 mil for 5000 tonnes? Which, if true, is essentially impossible for a new player to complete in a sidewinder, and for a pittance of pay. So if they're not supposed to be for solo, then why are they in Solo mode?

I'm not really into the combat side of things, so there's not so much in this release for me sad to say.

As others have noted some new general purpose ships would be very welcome, particularly ones that compete with the Python, and uses a medium pad. I enjoy visiting outposts for a bit of variety and currently the Python is my end game ship.

Oh, and Will, you seemed to have missed off the announcement of hula girl bobbleheads.....

New content, woohoo! Ish.

So here's the rub. New scouts, cool, IF it pays better than a data mission with no rep. 10k? Cmdrs keep telling me how easy they are and the exp you get... Great, there's no experience exchange where I can buy modules and make repairs using combat experience so yea. An insulting payout, especially given the horrorible tedium turned the guardian lore into. Mind numbing.

Part 2 of my whine: guardian grind. How awful that's how it's referred to. I feel, deeply, for all the dedicated cmdrs that have suffered thru this horrible busy work for the privilege of buying these modules (which is patently stupid on the face of it, "heres some blueprints so you can build me the same crap you are building everyone else") with the pennies they must have starved themselves to save off their pathetic scout payouts. Shameful fdev. How many cmdrs have we lost to this waterboarding analog. I can only hope you are all embarrassed. The old guardian sites weren't exciting, but rarely do I believe that they were suicide inducing.
Part 3
So the fool's gold rush was a fantastic notion but the buff was so grudgingly instituted as to go unnoticed by most. Great. It's almost on par with planetary scans. Almost. Maybe the prices are out of date on the vending machines, but nothing costs a penny anymore. Nothing. Allow supply and demand dynamics to drive commodity prices and stop being such victorian prudes about credits. Who cares if a noob buys an anaconda they can't fly? Give the gankers something to do for Pete's sake.

Contrary to appearences, I dearly love the sim and the cmdrs in it. o7 CMDRS, fly dangerous

...Replying to someone complaining about lack of trading missions ( somehow the quote went missing!?)

I did a 60 tonne mission yesterday for 1.5 mil and had room for another 190 tonnes of gold, so I guess they are still out there.
I find the trading mission filter helps finding those, be nice to have a destination filter that works like the commodities screen.

They need to change their algorithm for payouts in general for missions. For trading missions, the payout doesn't seem to reflect the tonnage that's moved. The fee structure is extremely artificial.

New content and ships are a nice thing to have. I rarely ever do combat so I'll just have to wait for a future update and hope one day we finally get something other than another combat ship.

On a more positive not, at least I'll finally be able to use my FSD boosters.

Yay... yet you didn't update your game for bug fixes for several months. :< Typical FDEV and their under-staffed team.
