Lack of dinosaur variety

That is not how it works! How do you not understand this! Do you think that them creating a game that will make them heaps and heaps of money is something to be thankful for???? Its a buisness decision. Im absolutely not cynical about this; I know they love this game etc, but that is such the wrong way to view it.

I agree with that statement to an extant. But they didn't have to make a game and listen to most of our concerns and address/try to fix them.

Then what was your point? Why did you make the thread complaining/whining about having dinosaurs that look the same? Unless you want a bunch of entirely different models.

Oh man, I thought we moved away from the whining.

It was a suggestion that maybe instead of using the same rough model for over half the dinosaurs, they cut down on the number and focus on more morphological variety. Wait until this comes out; I gurantee this will be an area of criticism.

Well now most people have seen all the dinosaurs and there is very few people complaining about it.

A suggest with a conclusion. You obviously want different models so why deny it? Andrew was right in his post. You are just unhappy they didn't make 100 different Dinosaur models. That's the whole point of this thread right?

Otherwise why even bother posting this?

I see both sides of the argument, both are valid and not everyone can be happy at the end of the day. Cut Frontier some slack and maybe get on them later on if they don't update the game with unique models or rigs.

I am sure that once they have the game out and have more freedom to play around with making models we will see a completely different variety of them. That is why there is no Flying or Aquatic Reptiles, there was simply not enough time to make them the way frontier did. They took what they knew they had, and made as made different dinosaurs with it, knowing that )I am convinced) A much more complex and sophisticated parks in a year from now.

exactly

This thread is divisive. With one side claiming that the other is whining (I honestly hate when people call it whining because it's not...) and the other trying to
defend his or her claim about the lack of unique dinosaurs. Well, that's the simplified version. But anyway I agree that Frontier should add Aquatic and Aerial
Mezozoic reptiles in future dlcs and free updates.

Lack of variety? ...what are people expecting exactly? I mean sure, there are a few types of dinosaurs that are notably absent; small, hornless ceratopsians like Leptoceratops or Protoceratops, small ornithopods like Dryosaurus or Hypsilophodon, Oviratorosaurs and Therizinosaurs... but on the other hand, these are real-world animals, not Pokemon; they can't just go nuts with the designs or make drastic changes to them and as a result there will ultimately be a lot of animals with similar appearances...

I love the idea that we have some obscure dinosaurs, if we didn't it would be boring as heck seeing the same ones that we know from the movies, and mainstream. I honestly think that Frontier is trying to show off a different variety of DInos that isn't known to the common person, that is why we have so many from Asia.

Agreed

My only possible criticism is that there's only two raptors. I think one of the stegosaurs from the Chinese formation *(think there's 3 or 4 from the same formation) could have been cut for another raptor (Troodon or Utahraptor would be nice choices, Utah would stand out because of its size.

That is totally incorrect and a fairly baseless accusation. I literally just completed a unit on paleontology at Uni last semester where we disicussed precisely this.

*Puts on Peter Ludlow Glasses* Jurassic World is our game now...and we will jealously defend it's interests...* Goes to walk away before OP grabs his arm. Turns and sighs* "Careful...this suit is worth more than your education...* walks off.

In all seriousness though, anything Jack Horner pops out these days is -highly- debatable. I mean T-Rex that can't run? Everything not a Pachy being a juvenile Pachy? *pop-up with comedic image of Jack Hornor appears* "Ah ah ah , you didn't agree with my theory, ah ah ah! " *Glares at screen* "PLEASE!!...God damn it! I hate this Horner crap!"

But I digress, All in all the amount of species we have at the moment is quite acceptable. Everyone has their preferences. For example I for one prefer Camarasaurus to Apatosaurus or Memenchisaurus. I prefer Torosaurus rather than Triceratops. We have a great variety of species of dinosaurs that can be appreciated by people according to their preferences and I feel our respective parks will reflect that. Like mentioned before, even more species will come over time. I simply do not see this "lack of dinosaur variety" you have mention. I do not see it or understand it. It really just feels like unneeded knit picking at this point..."so uh..uh..well...there you have it."

It appears as though you too are guilty of misunderstanding me.
I've never denied I want different models but it is a total mischaracterization to say that I'm 'just unhappy they didn't make 100 different dinosaur models'. If you actually read what I've wrote I've literally said the opposite; less dinosaurs more variation. It's not an incredibly complicated argument.

The entire point of this post; less dinosaurs more variation. Id rather 25 unique models than 42 with roughly half if not more of them belonging to the same family as 5 of the others. Ceratopsians, Ankylosaurians, Stegasaurians, Hadrosaurs and Sauropods. It's not necessarily a bad thing; it's only a negative when that comes at the expense of variation.

Think about how less exciting it will be when you unlock a new dinosaur at a digsite and you already have 4 others that are not only analogous, but homologous.

Whether you agree with that or not is a completely different argument altogether.

I think/hope so too. But I was never argueing against that.

No idea really what the issue is, not everyone is going to be happy at all the choices because their random favorite dinosaur was not included. Yes some of them are a bit repetitive, but I guarantee it came down to time constraints, they have had 18 months to build this game from nothing. I personally like the choices they made, and even if we had ever dinosaur that people wanted they are still not going to be happy. We live in a day and age where we buy the base game and the rest of it comes down the line later. Frontier is amazing at DLC, heck we are getting our first one within the first 2 weeks of the games release. I think people need to relax and enjoy what was given to us, because we could have nothing at all.

Couldn't have said it better myself.
