Devs help save the game!

I'm loving the game so far after 10hrs in including starting again 2x just to build better parks, however the first things that are not boding well and seen many other players stating same that needs immediate attention!

1. Most important are the guests are just dots in the game, they don't do anything apart from run around, this is a huge deal breaker for many. Sim games over past 20years have always had basic needs of guests so why are we left with guests with no AI, basic needs, toilet, food, drink, excitement would be a good start? Sim games of the 90s had guests buying food, clothes, goods in game and using them, please add something in asap!

2. No decorations, again a huge deal for many and I'm sure Frontier will add some in at later date, but come on how can we go from Planet Coaster mass of decorations to 0 and static construction pieces that all look the same?

3. Supposed to be a huge management / micro-management game, can someone please tell me where? I was expecting an in-between of Planet Coaster and City Skylines, however it seems even more dumbed down from Planet Coaster to me?

Still playing City Skyline after 4 years due to the mods and the deep engaging strategy elements, unless Frontier Devs address above I cant see this lasting longer than 2 weeks which is a shame as it should and could of been so much more coming from the Devs of some very good previous management sim games.

I have to say that I do pretty much agree with this. I was expecting something more like Planet Coaster too but yeah, this feels really stripped down of features.

Cause you spend most of your time taking care of your Dinosaurs I imagine. I have been playing for a while now and I don't miss having to put down toilets and benches every 20 feet of path I lay down.

planet coaster and elite dangerous served pretty much to finance frontier's transition to mass production. in their own words, "repeatable franchises". welcome to the future.

it's your choice, and you can choose wiser. whining is irrelevant.

peace & love.

You know, initially, I was a confused by the guest needs thing too, but looking at what you say here, I can see how they went in that direction. Making it more about the dinosaurs instead of the guests is probably a good thing since we do have enough games with whiny humans.

I don't know what people are complaining about decorations for. The parks look good enough. The islands are beautiful. The foliage all around makes it look like a an actual tropical island, you feel like you are actually on the island. You don't need to put down decorations in this game. There is so much to do.

Yea. Now since I've purchased it as well, turns out that there are guest needs too, they're just more subtle than other city/park sims. They still need food, fun, escape shelters and of course they need to be able to see the dinos. Dinos being central to the experience, of course they are going to put more emphasis on their needs. I'm good with it so far.

Not sure if this is in scope, but what appealed to me about the original jurassic park was pretending i was in a remote jungle, far away, with epic dinosaurs to go see. Think about the scenes outside the raptor pen at the beginning and the end of the movie. Jpog even with its 4 or 5 building types absolutely nailed it.. when people were around any structure it looked like a refuge / outpost / civilization among wilderness... just like the raptor pen in the movie. Wondering if jwe gets this at all?

Also noticed that doors don't open when people go to use shops. Jpog didn't have this issue...

Honestly it'd be really annoying to have all of these dinosaurs that are beautiful and dangerous and need constant attention and then not have time to enjoy them because the line for the bathrooms to long and Billy just peed himself. Also power can be hard to manage to begin with so having more people stuff I think would actually turn a lot more people off of the game than now

I noticed that as well. But I figured that would be fixed and it's not a big deal. I don't think a lot of shops in JPOG had doors. I just tell myself it's a game.

None of them did, they were all kiosk types. They also had large, float like balloons ontop of them to hide the air conditioners. The gift shop let you give a bonus snow globe too! EDIT: You could see the guests walk away from the gift shop holding balloons and gift bags too! I think drink cups as well from the food stalls.

Also i might be a smaller case, but absolutely loved placing toilets and rest areas.. you could see people go in them and it was awesome. Planet Coaster has them too, so if enough people ask maybe frontier will add it. Given the voiced missions are so hectic it was probably one too many things to do (keeping track of the needs and responding).. but we'll have to leave it in their capable hands.

How do you avoid going completely insane when the bar for absolute love and awe is so low? I fear for your safety, I fear your head may actually explode when something truly awesome happens in life...

You should really play the game and form your own opinion. You obviously haven't played JPOG.

Do you think I need to in order to know whether or not I'll be amazed by placing toilets and watching people go in them?

Yeah i think you might need to :) It clicks then its exactly the same as shops and restaurants, but adds a bit more immersion and believability to that aspect of the gameplay. Its not like the system isn't there already in jwe.

In all honesty its not that surprising, its a compromise to accommodate the missions and hyperactive dinosaurs. There were no missions in jpog, and the dinosaurs were only a problem when the storms hit, so plenty of time for toilet / rest area / path bench / rubbish bin immersion.

Guests do plenty, they just don't simulate needs. And the reason for that is probably because they're already simulating complex needs and AI for potentially hundreds of dinosaurs at a time, so doing it for 10,000-some odd guests would be unnecessarily taxing on your system. They absolutely interact with what's going on around them, though, and are a joy to just watch walking around.

Decorations don't bother me much, but I can see why people would want them.

"Can someone please tell me where [is the management]?" A few places:

* Managing your dinosaurs' needs.
* Keeping your clever raptors from breaking out on a whim.
* Ensuring your divisions are all pretty happy, and recovering from the sabotage if they're not.
* Placing buildings and paths for maximum income generation and guest happiness.
* Keeping the park's guest flow from bottlenecking too much.
* Keeping track of your ranger and ACU teams, and triaging which tasks they need to address in what order.
* Keeping your dinosaurs fed.
* Keeping your power grid stable and your storm and shelter coverage high.

TL;DR, the management aspect is logistical more than it is monetary. Also, I'm not so sure the game needs "saving", it's getting great reviews. :p It just needs improving. It's like... A 400 year-old house with termites needs saving. A 200 year-old house with a solid frame and a good foundation just needs improvements.

Honestly, they were rarely a problem even when storms hit. :p I loved JPOG but I was eventually BEGGING for my dinosaurs to test my security sometimes and they pretty much never did.

Guest requirements would be a nice touch.

Decorations.. Yes; there could be some more focus on beautifying your park.

Not sure where you got the impression it's meant to be a mix between Planet Coaster and City Skylines.. I didn't get that vibe at all; not from early reviews, gameplays, videos or anything of the sort.

Meh - customer needs are there - the map overlays that show where they are hungry / thirsty / want more shops etc. Not the same as JPOG, but there. No toilets, but as people have said - they could be added. Having said that the map overlays are quite dry, JPOG did seem to make the guests more human, hopefully FD can add something for that.

Can't help thinking there's a few here who haven't unlocked many islands - it's pretty simple on the first to juggle all the things you need, but other islands I'm finding I have enough to keep me busy without adding in the cleaners.
