After the first matchs of both teams,

In spite of the missed opportunities and the VAR missed wrestling it may have been the best way to win that one in the end.
If they'd banged 4 or 5 in there would be ridiculous expectation whereas as it stands they kept battling which in the end (just!) created the winner and must be superb for morale.
That's exactly the sort of thing that has gone against them so often in the past but this time they got through it - they put some great stuff together with very little of the old school passing to the opposition and other nonsense.

They must have been doing the V.A.R. For England’s game from Putins bedroom, you will struggle to see two more blatant penalties than the ones on Harry Kane hard to have faith in a system when it can be so blatantly circumvented. Still football wise like Ianw says probably the best way to have won in the end. Big confidence boost for a young squad but far tougher tests to come.
It seems a bit pointless - the TV replay is on it straightaway and it's blatant yet the VAR peeps somehow miss it?

I heard the opening goal in Russia's victory over Egypt was a bit odd (an own goal)? But that Russia totally dominated the second half and deserved to win on that. Still what about that own goal?
The keeper punched it into danger instead of catching it - defender fudged it into the net.

V.A.R........... A system put in place by one of the most corrupt sporting organisations in the world ( FIFA )............................... being used in a country with a track record for corruption in sport ................... and that country is run by a man accused of interfering in other countries elections and who likes to use nerve agents to * punish * those who dont agree with him...............................Is anyone actually surprised the decisions for all - in wrestling on a Football pitch were not given ?????????
