FantastiCon - 16 August 2014, Hull

I had a seriously great time. The highlights for me was the Occulus Rift and Drew's reading at the end. The take was great fun and the blue villain from Doctor Who had a cracking sense of humour.

Great to meet up with you too, Mike (at last!)

The other highlight was the friendliness of the attendees. Great to meet you all.

And well done to Cmdr Grubb for organising it all!

I have received permissions for the video. ETA Saturday 23rd.

Cheers,

Drew.

We missed it in the event (we were a little under the weather and had gone to bed around 11pm). Met up with Withnail at breakfast and he told us what a great show it had been - made us feel *soooo* much better! Looking forward with great anticipation...

Highlights
- ....
- Winning two mugs in the raffle, then being offered a swap for one of them by Jurriaan (Voyager_NL). I now have one mug and a massive poster, thanks mate! :D

That's the least you deserved for picking us up from the airport and bringing us back the next (early) morning.
I'm very happy with the mug and the mini poster signed by D. Braben.

Finally back online and thought I'd add my 2-pence to the mix :)

Highlights
- An absolutely amazing day from start to finish
- Meeting new people, and seeing a few familiar faces
<snip>
- Trying out the Oculus DK2 (thanks Dobbo!!)
<snip>

It was my pleasure.

And my thanks to El_Tel for the loan of his DK2 for that weekend.

The best thing about FantasiCon (and LaveCon) is the chance to met others from the community that is building up around the game. El_Tel and me hatched the idea of marrying my laptop to his DK2 on the train back to London from LaveCon. A plan that appears to work. I got so much fun out of introducing those who had never played the game before.

There was talk of a meet up in London sometime in November. I hope that comes to pass.

Going to unstick this one now,

Great to see everyone had such a good time. :D

A fantastic moment for me is when I somehow managed to find myself in the position where the gorgeous Kate Russell from offa the telly was hanging from my shoulder whispering a spoiler in my ear.

She begins with "Err... Ummm.."

and I stammer out "You just take as long as you need. We've got plenty of time and I'm quite comfortable here."

... I think I may have increased next year's attendance.
Hahaha :) Lovely to meet you x

But the late night RPG session was hilarious. I played a character from my book and went of in a huff (in character I might add). Dan suffered a broken leg when I stole the transport and drove off, and Dave Hughes' son got impailed on a glass window trying to force feed Kate and me jellybabies...

...you had to be there.

Cheers,

Drew.
This was indeed an hilarious nightcap to the day... I love Gabi's phrase for the feelings all round - banana face - I was grinning from ear to ear all day!

- Not getting my books signed! Nooooo!!!!!! I collected them straight away, but then got sidetracked helping someone on my rig in the pc room. By the time I got back, the signing seemed to have stopped and I didn't want to bother anyone by asking :p
Oh no :( .. if you're ever in London on a Wednesday with a few minutes to spare and can make it to New Broadcasting House near Oxford Circus ping me an email - info@katerussell.co.uk - as I'm happy to sign your book and give you a whistle stop tour of the BBC :)

For me there were too many highlights to list, but I will certainly never forget the friendliness and generosity of all the attending Elite fans... I am humbled by your support for our books and have never been made to feel more confident about my writing... and being given the chance for an impromptu nerveling of Mr Brookes to get some kind of idea about the possibility of sequel licenses was the icing on the cake... next year! (maybe ;))

Talking of the books again and the great format and branding of the hardbacks, they would make a really nice Box Set... ;)

I didn't take nearly enough enough photos. But here are two that I think I should share.

Dan introducing the next segment - don't ask me which one, I can't remember.

Here is the shot of Dan

The cut and paste of the URL didn't work for some reason and clicking the post's edit button doesn't do anything for me if the site is busy..

Video of my reading is currently rendering. With a bit of luck it will be online later today. I'm no Chris Jarvis, but I've done my best. :)

Cheers,

Drew.
