Wow, that's a whole lot of combat stuff. Why can't anyone else get some small updates as well? How about a non combat oriented ship for a change?

What the Frack. Q4 can't fracking come soon enough.

Am I the only one feeling ED has a huge pile of ships + huge pile of weapons already?

I understand there are folks who love to test/engineer, but I honestly stopped doing that a long time ago. As to me, even at release ED had a lot of weapons already. Now I'm pretty sure I won't even try every one of them. Ever.

When everyone (including me) was screaming VARIETY we didn't mean exactly that....

If I were you I would lower any expectation on Q4. Even so, the update is sure to be even worse than you expect.

Maybe Ed introduced a new Teaser Trailer ... my guess is we will get another one, which might relate to what's coming after this update.

You've got to be honest haven't you, weps are low hanging development fruit because ulimately relatively straightforward, to change some stats and add a little bit of a model (actually not all that small if you include the projectile animation too). I'm not a huge pew fan either but I think it's fair enough work, while big ticket exploration probes and so on are in the works because you literally live and die by the guns (vesus shields). So I don't have any problem if designing weapons becomes second nature to FDev.

Also think it's quite cool from the point of view of developing culture aesthetics. Guardians are currently getting their 'look' defined and fleshed out a bit, which is something the other cultures (human and thargoids) also have, to a greater then lesser extent. I'm still a massive fan of the Thargoid designs particularly but the Guardian style is maybe harder to pin down. For me anyway. I think this update really interesting just for that.

Thats absolute nonsense, really disappointing post. You know they are working on exploration, you know when its coming, and that is the exact opposite of 'being neglected'. And when they told you a fair bit at Lavecon, which wasnt that long ago, you were even excited. Then you dont hear anything for a month or two and immediately you walk around like calimero again, moaning your fate is so terrible and FD is so evil towards you. You know what? Your post perfectly demonstrates it doesnt matter crap all if FD communicates with you. You'll be happy for a day, than auto-revert to more moaning.

If I were a dev working on explo content, and I'd see posts like yours, I'd feel zero incentive to 'bless you with some actual news'. I'd rather just give the finger, go home after a day of coding and do something fun with my life. Like not interacting with this community. :p

Use them for some free excitement, then check tomorrow for proper news. :D

But exactly what was announced at Lavcon that wasn't already shared last year when Beyond was described? Also, I don't believe the poster or anyone is asking for a blessing. This is business, and it's called customer retention. And giving your customer the finger would be a really smart thing to do if you don't care about your career and employment. Really smart post there - one of your best.

There's a somewhat major game event going on so it's expected that developers would be revealing exciting stuff. Look at the other companies that are totally supporting their customer base and also have something to share. Let's see what FDev does at this private event. Let's see if they have anything exciting to share.

Are we really at the point where we're celebrating just heaps of the same stuff we already have? A smattering of tiny locations spread out across the expanse is not engaging content, nor is another stack of +1 weapons to grind through with engineers. We severely need some iteration--even at a minor level, since these were meant to be smaller updates. But this list is just... underwhelming doesn't seem like a strong enough word to convey the wind blowing out of my sails right now.

These are both posts that ignore the - often stated - fact that it's been no secret, ever since it was announced the Q3 was always always going the be what Frontier like to call 'a smaller' update. Sheesh.

Seriously though. If you want the game to succeed and go on to do the things you (and I and everyone) wants it to do, this is not the way to go about it. Have a look for the positives then maybe the narrative changes? (eg. Rian Johnson didn't kill Star Wars you know, it's 'the fans' who create such narrative virals).

Never - in the field of digital entertainment - have so many sheeps owed so much salt to so few youtubers

<insert Speccy Gamescon video here...>

Thanks for posting. So, basically, game gets even wider but no added depth. But this was expected for Q3. All hope now rides on the what's becoming known as a make-or-break Q4 final release for many in Beyond. Let's hope for new gameplay and depth.

Go look back at both vids if memory fails you. Or read the lavecon topics where the new info was shared. And the use 'bless' was explicitly used by mengy, and FD announced weeks ago they will not do major ED reveals at gamescon.

But nice rant anyway. :)

The good news is all other Q's are now past, Q4 is next :)

Well, I wouldn't call your rant nice but whatever. Pat yourself on the back I guess. Good job ignoring the points: what exactly was new at Lavcon that wasn't already shared? And do you still think FDev should flip-off their customers?

I know, but I still have a glimmer of hope that Frontier will put an extraordinary effort into the non combat side of the game for 3.3, especially for explorers who have been waiting since 1.0. I mean yeah I know that 3.3 brings a mining revamp, squadrons, fleet carriers, new ice planets, and sure exploration improvements too, but after four years of neglect I still have some hope that exploration will be getting the majority of development attention. Frontier certainly knows how down the exploration community has been, certainly they must realize how important this finally is?

Probably not as Frontier never seems very interested in exploration, but still my hope is dangling by a thread. I've not given up just yet. Almost, but not quite yet.
