Guardian SLF - magic ships?

Bless your ignorance OP. If you don't understand something doesn't mean its magic. It's just science we need to figure out. Also it's not first floating thing in game so what's new to you? Never seen guardian tech before? Also I can show you levitating magnets on earth irl.

You could even say, "any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic." (Arthur C Clarke)

[up]

I don't understand how it works either OP so I'm going with space goblins!

Or magnets ..

Though "maglev" maybe is, more likely? Otherwise what's stopping them from snapping together?

They could be using quantum locking

^^ That sounds even better.

I thought it was supposed to be a human design using alien tech.

The triangles imply non-human input, so I guess this alien tech only works in threes. Humans have ships which are identical reflections about a single axis. Clearly, the Guardians are tri-axial.

Ram Tah has just assembled the technology available to him from blueprints, I should imagine. Blueprints which we can get our hands on to build our own ships .....

and clearly Guardians like blue !

Yes, I see what you mean, but it's cool ! I like the thinking outside of the box on this design.

I also like that the Guardian technology has a "triangular" consistency, following through from the triangular shapes on the monoliths ...

Where did you find these super nice screenshots? Not from the phone footage that was leaked from last night's presentation surely?

P.S. why has nobody mentioned TRON yet? :p

P.S. nevermind, a single post just answered both my questions.

New Ship Kits Opportunity !

Fill in the missing bits in your Guardian SLFs with spoilers, fins and connecty-pieces-with-spikes-on :D

Look how people here try to explain scientifically this artistic direction the game is headed towards, as if we're not flying in a universe where instant teleportation exists, fighters which 90% of their volume is dedicated to a totally useless holographic projector and windshields capable of withstanding the temperature and luminosity of a star while admiring a planet with liquid water but no atmosphere.

Guys, Elite has departed the scientific accuracy a long time ago ;)
The slf looks cool, let's leave it at that.

Yep, i agree with OP. While I like look the general design of the hybrid fighter, I really, really dislike the unattached free-floating wings.
Looks like Frontier are giving up on the "plausible science" aesthetic and just going for full-on space fantasy.
Great.
Soon we'll be using laser swords and biotic/Force powers.

Yeah. It's not like Electrostatics are even a thing in Physics, at all .... oh wait.

To avoid all components needing independent power supplies I think you'd mount a static magnet in the wings, as attractor, with a reverse pole electromagnet in the main fuselage for (active) repulsion to balance. However it works though, the main power supply, must be .. pokey.
