Community Event / Creation ***Attention Explorers*** GNOSIS Jumps planned THROUGH a permit Lock !

I have a question for whoever's driving this ship (I'm hoping someone is).

When the Gnosis leaves the sealed-off lands, it's heading Riftwards, yes? Is that going to be a lengthy trip?

I ask not because I want to get off (although I'm sure some people do) but because I'll be away from the game for much of October - I have a real life expedition, to somewhere a bit closer and more terrestrial - and I'm curious whether the trip will still be ongoing once I can play again.

Yes and also the surrounding systems allow some good income from water worlds or even an ELW (found one so far, on a short trip, there must be a lot more). I think the whole journey is paradise for true explorers.

Indeed, if you're looking for a profit, given the lack of RES sites out here, exploration data will be far more lucrative than mining. But if you're like me and enjoy the occasional spot of mining as a change of pace, be aware: the Gnosis outfitters stock everything you'll need, but only in smaller sizes, and crucially, NO mining lasers available. It's strictly BYOLaser.

As for me, no Earthlikes yet, but I've racked up some nice credits turning in a half dozen undiscovered terraformable water worlds.

If I remember correctly, these restrictions are imposed by the Pilot's Federation. All FSD computers are built to obey Pilot's Federation restrictions. I can't find a source for this, though.

Thanks, that's enough to get me going.

Incidentally, Rutile is selling for ~200k and Cobalt for ~100k right now in The Gnosis...

Any tips? Lol

Only stay frosty .. and hopefully don't get stuck in a system again. You have some distance to travel yes but four full days to do it (to Thursday) and even then Gnosis is still catchable for another week. So all you have to do it make it in one piece! Rooting for you Cmdr. o7.

I made it! The ole' T7 pulled through. It took almost all day but I'm docked now and taking a small break. If I were to somehow* destroy myself I wouldn't respawn at Gnosis correct? And pardon my noobness but I'm regards to the waterworlds what is "ELW"?

I wonder how busy the system is in open play? Should I be worried about getting ganked for no reason?

Congrats! :)

Yes you should re-spawn at the Gnosis if you have properly docked, unless you do something criminal (pad loitering works if you want a shortcut to the next detention center, Pleiades iirc) and if you can pay the insurance of course. ;)

Most unlikely but unfortunately no one would tell you as they would feel responsible in the very unlikely event it happens to you. :D Personally I haven't seen any misfits here, only a few surprisingly heavy armed Condas. Guess they are here due to some rumors, probably meant as an explorer's defence force.

The original trip saw me in my Chieftain because I too think something is waiting out there. But it does lol. So my completely harmed T7 Will have to survive on people's good graces. I'm hoping to get lots of good scans, and salvage to take back home for an upgrade. As far as ELWs go, do the scans fetch a better price or how does that work?

My phone loves to autocorrect.. It died*

This image is (I think) the current approx payout per body for the three types of scan:

It is a big image but imgur reduces it I think. There is probably a link to the big original if someone can post it. EDIT: see post #590 below.

[where is it]

Four days into my new PC account for this. Going to stay in Colonia on Xbox and have a go at the engineers up there.

Quick question ... Am I the only one bringing a small ship due to pad size? I'm thinking that the medium and large slots might be pretty gummed up.

This is the original forum thread that plot comes from. Note that the values are rough averages. Especially at higher values, the payouts fall in a wide range that depends on a variety of factors. Also, since this isn't super obvious in the chart - the RED values are payouts for a simple honk with a discovery scanner, and the GREEN values are payouts for a body scanned with an DSS. Whatever the key might make you think, the yellow values are actually payouts if you honk and surface scan a planet without a DSS equipped, which you would basically never do unless you're so early in your career that the extra 250k credits is a barrier.

Congrats! :)

Lol yeah I'm one of the conda guys, gonna modify my build a bit for explorer/combat mix before the gnosis heads out, there will probably be at least of few griefers i expect, also considering bringing my goid gear just in case lol.

Thanks for the tips. I'm ganna log in shortly and see what I can find. Do I still need to venture 100ly for the data to be sellable?

Came across a Condor crash site tonight while exploring the ringed planet where Gnosis is in orbit. Occupied escape pod and personal weapons....where did this guy come from...? note coordinates in pic for visit (if that works).

Probably. After all, you can always slip into solo to get a guaranteed landing spot.

And even in open, I've not yet had a problem finding a medium pad for my Aspx.
