Sure they have. Just after the notion of making PP open only, they insisted that the BGS wouldn't meet the same fate, then shortly after that they came back, again, with the idea of incentivizing PP in open. A major step back. Then Sandro went so far as to remind everyone that these are just ideas to be brain-stormed on and not to expect any changes in the near future. Backpedaling at it's finest.
BGS is probably getting reworked and we dont know about it. We we kind of do Braben said BGS changes were coming on reddit a while back. But not in the way we think.
Between that and the unbalanced 1 click transactions that havnt been touched yet. The BGS very well might not be affected and we get something added for player factions and squadrons and stuff.
Right now the BGS is geared for the single player.
Im not sure if people will understand this. But because the BGS is transaction based and the way Crime and Punishment was before(based around the BGS.) It worked well for the single player. But a lot has changed.
Players groups are using single player framework on a adversarial multiplayer playing field. The only thing that was connected was the markets and the influences.
Over time player groups, stations and even some balancing of the BGS was done. There have been multiple bandaids for the BGS over time. All because of players intentionally affecting one another.
The BGS will continue to change around that.
They arent back peddling. If anything they have left Flash Topic Focused Feedback up so people finally warm up to the idea that they are going to follow through. And they wont be surprised when it happens.
The BGS between player faction is still players affecting players. Just like powerplay. All of the Colonia Region has a player faction in it. Using the single player framework in a multiplayer environment. Its only a matter of time before it changes.
This is why people dont understand Crime and Punishment right now. However if people would grow a set of balls. And play the BGS in open against each other constantly. You would see that the crime and punishment is geared towards player interaction. Just like the ATR and its delay timer.
The delay timer is there for people to still have the interaction before help arrives. They aren't going to completely remove that interaction .
If you look at the game, the mechanics, the modules and the gameplay itself. You can see whats needed to make this work.
And sooner or later, whether you like it or not.
They're going to balance the multiplayer part of this game. And yes, its going to involve attacking and defending with kill-warrant scanners, FSD interrupt missiles, Hatch breaker limpets and so on.
