Not IF but WHY discussion around modes in the BGS

Indeed, this part may not happen in Q4. Id love it too trust me. But powerplay will go first if anything.

Then the balancing of player groups.

However, they have the chance to pull it off. They have to make changes to the BGS anyways if they want to keep having player faction interact with each other. Its only a matter of time.

Either that, or they halt player groups from fighting over territory. And thats not gonna happen.

Time is on my side here. Because of multiplayer balancing issues alone.

Its a reason a majority of people have quit this game after they reach a certain point. A lot of player groups are pretty unhappy with the state of the game when it comes to this.

I very much doubt that FDev would ever contemplate such a move. To alienate all the solo players and a large amount of private group players and probably some open players would not be good for the ongoing health of the game. In fact it would be utterly stupid.

I don't even think that they will make powerplay open only. They may make open more attractive for powerplay, but I think that is as far as they will go.

Solo players care about their personal progression with ships, engineers, credits and reputation. They dont care about influence in other places or people. I dont care about influence thats happening across the bubble somewhere else. Only where they affect my group and I.

Pretty straight forward.

You're starting to remind me of people I used to know who were losing USENET arguments and pulling out the old "well I'm well supported in email!" tactic.

That didn't work either.

It does, but it cant stay that way forever. They built the game based around player interaction. Its only a matter of time before they follow through with what they built. Its common sense. Fdev doesnt move very fast.

Hopefully with all those changes in the new building, the next expansion and major adjustments in Q4. We will start seeing things much quicker.

And if they can do this with powerplay. They can do this with BGS player factions too.

Common sense and FD. Really? You can't be serious.

We just had an update. It should clearly show the divide between these two diametrically opposed objects.

Frontier have commented previously that allocating development time to Powerplay has been difficult due to its relatively low uptake among the player-base. With that in mind, it is perhaps unsurprising that Powerplay has been selected as a candidate for Open only (i.e. "meaningful PvP") in the game (as Frontier also know how few players in Solo and PG actually engage in Powerplay). If the change is made, it will be interesting to observe whether there is any net increase in the number of Powerplayers - and how the dynamic changes when trucking merits has to be done in Open.

I don't expect the BGS to be next, simply because it affects all players - not just a relatively small subset of the playerbase.

You really can't help yourself can you. He gives you some good advice and believe me it is good, and you reply by being a complete and basically calling him stupid.

You said you didnt understand it because I was babbling. Im saying you need to learn how to understand something people write. You understand it. Just like Jane understood what I was saying earlier. Multiple times. And yet, they felt the need to play stupid.

It does'nt stop it from being the truth though.

And alienate the players? I very much higly doubt that indeed. This forum has tought me anything its that people will whinge to the ends of the earth to get thier own way, but quieten down pretty quickly if something changes against thier veiw

I say FDev have nothing to worry about making the change. People will whinge and threaten to leave, but being realistic, what other space sim games even come close?

NONE OF THEM.

It's that simple.

"I'm making complete sense, YOU JUST CHOOSE TO PRETEND NOT TO UNDERSTAND ME!"

Sure.

If that is what you think then you know nothing. I suggest you stop as you are now embarrassing youself with your ignorance.

Yeah, they also said they dont want to fix CQC because people dont play it.

Well I got something for them to chew on. MAYBE PEOPLE DONT PLAY IT BECAUSE ITS AN UNBLANCED NON-WORKING PILE A CRAP.

Has anyone ever thought about that? I mean, im not trying to be overly mean here.

But has anyone ever given the thought that people dont do things because of certain things are not working properly, or how unbalanced it is?

Why would anyone play something like that, when the devs themselves dont try give it any upkeep what so ever.

They could make it give out materials, pay better, all sorts of things.

Saying we arent going to fix something because people dont use it. Is really really stupid.

I dont care if you were knighted and own a fortune 500 company.

Thats a dumb way to address a problem.

It can not be a priority. And thats fine. But saying it wont ever be touched because no one else messes with it. Huge nono.

It does,

The attacker gets to choose the mode, how long the attack lasts, and the type of attack that happens.

What does the defend get to do? Undo everything the attacker does. But has no chance to stop them from following through.

Put them in an open only environment. You can stop your attackers. Send them to a rebuy screen. Work together as a team using various engineering and modules.

People have too many options and in this case, heavily favored for the attacker...

White moves first in Chess, too. Over centuries this hasn't prevented people from finding pleasure in playing the game and chess hasn't evolved to a real time game where both move simultaneously. This is a non-issue. Attackers ALWAYS move first. So deal with it and defend with the means you get.

Black moves second, but also has the chance to over take the persons chess pieces and remove them from the table.

What you guys want is to keep all the chess pieces, everyone shares or passes around a system. And there is no clear winner or loser in the outcome.

Fairly sure both sides get to remove the other guy's pieces.

Indeed, and in elite its option. If the attacker chooses to get his pieces removed.

I guess it depends if they are a nice attacker or not.

Maybe a psychopathic one because they like getting shot at.

Just like everyone can in the current BGS mechanics. It's good you finally begin to understand the principle of it.

No the current BGS mechanics dont allow any pieces to be removed from the table. All pieces stay on the table. In a round robin circle jerk of system wars.
