General / Off-Topic Destiny 2 is garbage

I thought i'd try it out for free and after playing a bit I realized its the same grind as the first title. This is only free to lure in more players to buy the first 2 dlc which is trash and then a $40 DLC that fixes the game adding content that should of been in the base game.

Review: Eye Candy rip off.

I started downloading it because it's free, but my Internet is not so fast, so I paused it (it's a huge game). I'm curious if others feel the same way as OP. I already have Star Wars Battlefront - is Destiny similar to this or something totally different?

FPS have all got boring and dull for me and many on my friends list...
I got RBS and battlefield 4 and none since have made any thing thats different enough for another £30 purchase... Yes Battle field 4 was sold at clearence price offer very quickly after release to get you to by the Premium pass from EA.. Ubisoft did the same with RBS to try to make you buy there season pass...
They allready given away black ops 3 on PLUS as well and Its so boring for a FPS I fell a sleep multi times and this is an elite dangerous player who can fly 50Kls to dock with nothing to do and still stay a wake...

Many on my friends list stopped playing destiny 2 and they payed full price and went back to war frame and other titles...
8 are online now and none are playing destiny 2
1 i am shamed to say is playing black ops4 beta I might have to kick him...
1 is playing lego Jurassic park and not Fdevs game...

Going to get boo'ed for this but even with K&M support ive got bored of fortnite its now just feels old and the shopping carts don't replace cars and ATVs like you get in H1Z1 which is newer even if having to use DS4...
the retro class Another world game did get downloaded and completed the first day... if I had known how short it was there was no way I would have got it on the Amiga but I never finished it till I played it on PS4...

Forgive my ignorance, but this means Destiny 2 is basically just another FPS? In which case I will likely pass. I also get bored with FPS after the novelty of the specific game wears off. Overwatch is an exception for me, because that game feels just as much a chess game as an action FPS when played with the right team.

War Frame seems to be in a different category, as others have also sung its praises. How so?

I thought it was ok, for "free". I completed the story with one character, it was just like new missions for D1 to me. I might get Forsaken when it ends up in the bargain bucket.

Yes warframe is very different but its hard to explain exactly why in text videos are better, but the amount of content that is actualy free to play now kinda over whelms how it works with new players ... Theres just so much that is provided for free... but there is a grind...
It used to have the tag line ninjas play for free... this was due to a lot of war frame not doing Shooting at all back then.... you can shoot but you may never have to on some levels... there are specific levels that need completion with out shooting if you play it correctly....
Your stealth blade kills can be used... your lightning powers or the rasied from dead you killed on the level slaves can do the killing, there are so many skills set to unlock and play, there are still the shoot the boss levels but the objectives on others are not to shoot any one, stab, slice, yes shoot your laser gun and the level gets way harder and can even fail... there a lot more stealth game play to counter the shoot shoot shoot... other levels ban guns completely... and only blade weapons can be carried...

Its also the semi sequel spin off to there past title Dark sector... even includes a downgraded version of the same armour suit and weapons in homage to there past rip of of Resident evil but at a time when RE was being rubbish... so was actualy better in a way...

Another issue is Youtube video content can be way out of date so looking at youtube won't realy help unless the guide video was done less than 6 months ago...

As ED requires so much time it did eat the time from many other titles on PS4... but lucky some titles are good enough to pull me back but that has not been war frame, thats been killing robo dinos game / Horizon zero dawn and then the cheat DLC, sorry raise to level 60 cap and new area and new weapons DLC expansion... played that so much that it generated an automatic platinum trophy with out trying...

That's another reason I'll probably leave Destiny on the server for now. I still have unfinished games like HZD that I really want to get back to. Like you, ED interrupted my normal game "schedule" last year.

And then there are all these new games coming, like Spiderman (I'm waiting for Black Friday sale), Ace Combat 7, Red Dead, etc. Elite Dangerous may not have competition in its genre on PS4, but it definitely has competition in general on PS4.

Yes warframe... but there is a grind....

The thing about Warframe grind is in a way, its "good" grind. When you are grinding one thing you are usually progressing a lot of other things at the same time, while you play you are levelling up MR, you are levelling weapons or frames (if you play smart), you are getting focus, you are getting syndicate rep, you are collecting resources or getting blue prints, opening relics (or collecting them), while you are crafting stuff in the foundry, all at the same time.

Elite could learn a lot from Warframe. I was trying to get Sentinel Wreckage last night and in two hours of grind I got 2 drops, so (6 total) and I got a few other components I didn't want or didn't need for my module unlocks.

Destiny is totally different, I think I have hit the ceiling of 265 power with the base game on my first character.

I thoroughly enjoyed Destiny 1, and played through the campaign 3 times, two with friends in co-op.

I also enjoyed Destiny 2, but didn't give it the same amount of time because I'm also playing other games.

I am skipping the newest D2 DLC because it's $40 but yet it's not 2/3 the content of the base $60 game (i.e. a bad value imo.)

And I'm moving on to No Man's Sky Co-Op which so far has also been a lot of fun.

TLDR; Destiny 2 is a lot of fun, and I highly recommend it if you enjoyed Destiny 1.

BF2 was on PS2 so im guessing he is playing it on a PS2. 2001-2007 was the golden age of FPS.

The Halo "Killer" that was never advertised correctly but was a epic online (Cable, dsl, dial up) FPS with atleast 30 organized clans and hundreds of players everyday. This was the real Destiny during the early days of competitive FPS.
