Ship Builds & Load Outs Please look at my first real ship build

Vulture, Viper and Courier(Imperial rank required) are all more reasonable goals given your budget.

I'd suggest unlocking The Dweller and Professor Palin asap.

I can turn some things off in combat like fsd instead. is the issue being over 100% when delpoyed because I'm really close. but no I can't engineer, but I have 41 thingys of power and my weapons take 1.5 each per second, I should be good

Cruel?

Well, emphasis on the "...AP"...
He has an enormous objective benefit to ship performance!
Between him and Dweller it's night and day.

Not questioning Palin's OP... I just made due with Felicities' G3 drives for quite some time, because Marco. I focused on weapons (because they're fun), Chung, Didi & Selene before Palin, but I was in no rush to jump into PvP.

Sure, I suggest Palin as a priority because people tend to put him off.
I did it that way too.

Looking back, many things don't work too well without a good PD, so Dweller is at/near the top of my suggestion list after the FSD engineers.

Dweller also gives decent laser mods, which are very beginner friendly weapons and arguably the weapons that benefit most.
He's also really, really easy to unlock.

So my ideal flow now would be something like first range, then boost frequency, then top speed, then shields, then armor, then weapons.
Qwent give PP up to G4 so you Tani can be put on the back burner for most people.

@OP, the Vulture is an exception perhaps. It is very power hungry, so unlocking Tani will free up that beast a bit more.

okay my boys how does this look???:

looking good ... for a multirole vulture

for combat i would get rid of the cargo racks, put some scb and/or hull reinforcement there, and switch some utilities for shield boosters. vulture has good shields, so it pays to invest in them. its major compromise is power constraint though, you'll see.

also, a docking computer? seriously? tell me it's to enjoy the music after the battle ... :D

If you are going to unlock an engineer I would go for Felicity Farseer: this will sort your jump range out and............Thruster Grade 3 dirty drives which will start to help with the most important aspect of combat training: learning how to disengage.

Felicity also sells Enhanced Thrusters which with G3 Dirty Drives is a real boost up.

If you can stand the rank grind, go for the iCourier which IMHO the most survivable ship in the game (stupidly fast speed and good shield strength).

All the other combat training can then be added to the basics.

I just don't understand, where do I go from here?? I have the type 7 which earns me at max 1.4mil per basic med run (AT MAX). the grind to the type 9 is going to take forever, which is the only way to make more money trading. Is there something in between (credit wise) the earning potential of a type 7 and 9?

you get your combat vulture and go bounty hunting at a res site, you'll get plenty of money while you get the ropes of combat. bring a kill warrant scanner.

Just use the Vulture and go bounty hunting in HiRES sites, and maybe take some low level assassination missions.

You can do this with Farseer unlocked.

I didn't see you answer which engineer you have unlocked, and both Farseer and Martuuk do FSD and thrusters.

Ftr, I'm assuming OP has either Martuuk or Farseer already unlocked, based on an earlier post.

You can do cargo missions that can earn significantly more then that. You'll need to build your rep with a faction of your choosing, but the big money cargo missions are available. They're typically 180t of cargo or less, often times one or two hops away and can earn you several million per mission. I tend to run cargo missions from my home station and then deliver commodity goods back to my home system from wherever I ended up.

I have Martuuk. Anyways, I bought and fully outfitted a Vulture. I got killed one or two times and now I have only 600k credits left of my 35mil (most in my ship). I don't have enough now for insurance so what do I do. This is so frustrating. I will probably need to sell my vulture and get my type 7 back, damnit.

Cost of a stock Eagle before outfitting: 44,800

Cost of an Eagle completely A-rated and modified: 1,795,138

Cost of a stock Viper before outfitting: 142,931

Cost of a stock Vulture before outfitting: 4,925,280 !!!

That's why you're broke . . . [noob] . . . you didn't learn the basics of space combat in an inexpensive ship, you thought that by purchasing a Vulture, your ship would win your battles for you. Now you know better.

You bit off a bit more than you could chew.
It happens.

As for now?
Rule number 1 is still Don't fly without rebuy.

You only have the Vulture now?

I would suggest some data delivery missions to get some funds back, if you only have the one ship.
Those are pretty safe and don't require cargo space.
