Horizons Finding a specific ship. Cobra MKIV

Ok,,
I know about EDDB and I have now visited 9 stations where it is listed as being available. On one station it was there when I got there, but after I went to outfitting to store a couple modules it wasn't there anymore.

At least for modules, EDDB indicates that if you wait around, the types of modules with change withing the range of modules normally available at the station based on it's tech level.

If a station has in the past had the Cobra MKIV but doesn't currently have one, how long will I have to wait for it to get one?? Or is this a random thing??

I believe this ship was only available for pre-orders of Horizons or something.
I'm on PS4 so I don't know the details.

When did you buy Horizons? And what platform are you on?

On PC/Xbox there was a cut-off date after which, your purchase will not include the account privilege of being able to buy the ship, and it's not available at all to PS4 players.

If you missed the date you're out of luck. No access after the cut-off date.

Well, Rats!!!
Hope the DEV's recycle it..

The Cobra MkIV is an exclusive reward for Elite Dangerous players who upgraded to Elite Dangerous: Horizons during its first year.[2] It is only available to PC players who purchased Horizons before February 5, 2016 (this also includes Lifetime Expansion pass holders), and to Xbox One players who purchased the Horizons season pass before July 30, 2016. Players who met these requirements can obtain the ship in-game from stations using credits.[3] PlayStation 4 players currently do not have any means to access the Cobra MkIV. Frontier have not made any announcements of making the Cobra MkIV accessible to other players.

You say it was there when you got there? In other words it was purchasable ? I don't think you would see it at all in outfitting if you didn't qualify for one.

I know I saw it. I scrolled through the available ships and it appeared at the end of the list between the most expensive ship and the sidewinder. I was even able to look at the purchase options. I now wish I had simply hit EXCHANGE SHIP..

I have one, it is only ok. Much better (but more expensive) ships out there.
Try a Krait

Well, for me the lure was the 8 optional module spaces in something less than a million credits.
Nope, probably not the best at anything, but, looks like it would be the Chinese version of a Swiss army knife.
You want to explore, on planet or just systems, it will let you do it.

You want to do cargo and have a reasonable expectation of making the delivery, you can do it.
You want to haul passengers and guarantee their safety, you can do it.

All that in a ship that can also have a crew member so you could be mining in tight places while the gunner was fighting off the pirates.

You can't have it. The Cobra Mk. IV is only available to players who purchased Elite Dangerous before February 5, 2016.

I wouldn't sweat it. From what I have read, we are not missing much . . .

Also would make for an excellent material gathering ship, with all those internals and the small footprint.
It can hold a bunch of corrosive racks too.

I owned one of those slugs. Not a fun ship, useful for early trading and with a little extra firepower, but i would always go with the Mk.III. The original is much more fun to play.
I think Frontier did not want to make it pay to win, when they designed this ship. It can do almost everything, but it does nothing really good, even when engineered. It is a nice bonus though.

I have this available on two accounts - I use them quite frequently for those little missions that you take to build rep or play BGS. It is a mini-Python that is fun to fly and looks great in a predator repaint.

BTW - I would be quite happy to see it be made available to anyone, even if just for a short period, particularly since the PS4 players never had any opportunity to qualify for it.

This was exactly what i wanted it for though I would probably have made a miner out of it later.. Planned to put a KWS on it and all the cargo racks it would hold and a 2G Hanger/SRV. wander a planet looking for elements and picking up salvage and when I found a ship sitting on the surface that the preliminary scan says WANTED, bring the MkIV down and make a kill for a bounty.
The MK3 does this but with less than half the cargo space.
My AspX does it with almost as much cargo space but usually lands farther away because it is bigger making the salvage collection tedious.
Nope, Really would like the DEV's to make another opening for the MKIV..
