I am sorry but this game is absolutely worthless

TL;DR appears to be a disgruntled SC player looking to vent on the ED forum.

Its beta, its for testing core game mechanics, no content is fully operational or are even in at this time, if you wanted a fully polished feature full game then you should not of bought a beta, you are here to test and support.

Ok well consider this I have given you really good beta feedback. And if what I said isn't addressed you'll here a lot more about it(from other players). Garanteed. Want I want to hear is that they will control PVP. People should not have to make a decision

solo game

or

Gankfest and forced PVP

That is a fail right there

I wish I was English like my hero Tj.
No I went to the ONLY place you can do combat of ANY kind.

Big difference. But doesn't matter. As it stands either you play the macro spreadsheet game or have PVP gankers stop you from completing combat missions.

Not only that you LOSE credits from it. LOL LOL

You can do combat at several places, actually. The stellar nav beacons are one, as are several of the random encounters you'll find at the Unidentified Signal Sources that pop up sometimes while in Super Cruise.

Reminder to everyone: Let's keep this civil. Only comment if you can do so in a constructive way.

There are other combat zones, some unidentified signal sources are combat opportunities, resource extraction sites infested with pirates.

If you go to the main one that everyone knows about, what do you expect?

At the very moment you won't earn much credits by doing combat missions or PvP (except if you're some sort of ace pilot).

As far as I figured, Elite always was very much about trading, that includes finding the right routes to make profit. That did not change much I think. So my question to you is: if you get "ganked" in a conflict zone... and you get a repeat performance every time you go there: why in all hell do you keep doing it in order to make credits?

If I run my head against a wall and come to the conclusion it's not a very pleasant experience, I try other options. Be it a helmet or just using the door that is one meter to the right ;)

You play a game that is -as a big part- about trading. You want to earn money to afford your next ship. Why would you repeat going to a combat zone where you get your butt handed to you over and over again?

As this is still a beta, things are about to change, and I bet it will include increased payment for combat missions, bounty hunting or whatever else comes to mind. Balancing is surely one of the most challenging parts in game development. Give the devs time...

And maybe calm down before posting. Rage posts like yours are not going to get much help from other players (though I must admit that this forum has got loads of helpful guys, and they mostly are really polite and help newbies whenever they can).

I do hope you get the hang of the game and begin to enjoy it as so many others here do.

I know I do, eventhough I am not old enough to be a fan of the first hour of the Elite universe.

Look how bad the combat missions were last beta, they were even worse then because they were so early in development they didnt exist, now they are in the first stages of development,

Complaining about them not existing yet is almost on the same level of nonsense as complaining about them not being finished yet.

Like I said, its a beta, come back when its finished, if its still broke then then complain. Dont try to predict the future though.

My experience is this:

I get bounties for stopping in, not only that its usually some worthless tanker or something. If I need to kill 5 federal fighters or Eranin vessels. I could spend 3 hours looking through these spots before I find what I am looking for.

I hate to say it but I kind of agree with the OP. I wasted 150$ for premium and this game is still 90% copy pasted repetition...It does get old fast.

You paid for access to what was called "Premium Beta" ;)

You paid for the privilege of participating in early beta-testing of an incomplete game which hasn't been released yet. Calling it just "Premium", you make it sound like it's some sort of full release :)

Wut?

Um...there are things that are "issues" because its beta, but pvp and combat isnt really an issue....there are several places you can find combat, and also...you can go to that same area you are talking about in "solo" play and do that....yes the game is limited, for example I don't find trading fun...I find exploring fun, and there isnt much to do to make money with exploring yet, but pvp is fine....if you spent the time for the better [redacted]...then you deserve to kill someone with that [redacted] all you want. [redacted]

I find you lack of imagination disturbing.

The game is open, and allows you to do tons of different stuff.
It's there, you just have to challenge yourself.

Seen this week newsletter video, for a perfect example.

They have 3 months to go. Betas are indicative of the final product, I have yet to see a beta game differ greatly from the released game. My experience has always been the opposite, many assurances that ALL will be fixed, don't worry its JUST beta.

Invariably the released game looks a lot like beta.

The problem with Eranin 2 is the UNCONTROLLED PVP. There is someone always ganking people there. One shotting or two shotting. What a waste. What kind of scumbag sits there and does that? The only place to get any kind of action and its 24/7 camped.

So you can't go there and get your mission done, I check the zone for players...see none and proceed to go after federal fighters. Then out of nowhere shields down, ship blown up, eject eject.Killed my CMDR loserplayer23.

I am getting sick of having to pay 3k to get my ship back because of your uncontrolled PVP situation. If someone ganks someone, the person ganked should NOT have to pay for a new ship. PERIOD! What is wrong with you guys? Its the LEAST you can do.

That is not a gank. You are going into a combat zone. You have chosen a side to fight on. You go happily about your business engaging the opponents and someone who has joined the opposing side kills you. That is not a gank, that is combat in a combat zone.

You play a multiplayer game with combat and expect not to be engaged in combat by another player in a combat zone? They are not camping, they are participating in the mission. Being killed is the risk of entering a combat zone. If the NPC's kill you, you will still have to fork out for your ship, or are they "ganking" you too?

This happened exactly twice, so its not exactly as you describe at all is it? You might be exaggerating to try and make a unfounded point amrite?

I went there ONCE got blown up instantly(previously one time I did manage to kill the vessels I needed and get the reward). Wasnt sure what happened. I saw a player but I blew up so fast was not sure who shot me.

Second time, I look around on the radar for players. I see none, figure ok, let me get this done. Next thing you know blown up again one shotted. I make sure to check what hit me (DK2 makes it easy to miss unless you specifically lookf or it)

I saw it was a hostile players name.

So there you have it, I would have liked to test the cobra today, as we are talking about "testing". But that is not going to happen. My point is people are awful to each other on the internet. Don't allow people to do this krap to other people against there will in your game.

Why go down that road?

Kaelis33,

You should never ever have bought into the beta.
For the average gamer it is much better to wait for the retail product.
There is no shame in that at all.

Also:
Virtually everything you complain about, like not being able to make money, is countered by the many examples of others who have no problem whatsoever. Even in the hazardous, sometimes buggy beta elite universe many people succeed in making [redacted]loads of money.
But it might take some extra effort and a very adventurous and inquisitive spirit to do so in a game that offers very little in the form of tutorials or manuals because it is still in beta. As I said... just wait for the retail.

My point is people are awful to each other on the internet.

That is very often true. It is one of the reasons I stopped playing online many years ago.
You should try Single player online.

first thing first, no, they are not representative.
That's kinda the point.
Check any page about an early access game, any Beta ToU, and any trailer for a game in development.
it's written in big letters all over it.

Secondly: most beta are NOT beta.
They are what FD calls Gamma, meaning a finished game, only requiring tweaking.

Elite is very much in Beta stage, as it is called by developers, and not by the guys in advertising.

so there are no interdictions, no Nav points to battle at, no unidentified signal sources to visit and you totally missed both the 'Solo' option and the clear save option on the menu on the way into the game?

either you need your eyes testing or you are playing a different game than i am, i fight up to 50 opponents a day, none of them human and none of them anywhere near the Fed distress signal.

as for making money its not rocket science, do a bit of trading between an agricultural and an industrial system (hint - one makes machinery used on farms and needs food, the other farms food and needs machinery).

or you could visit USS's for cargo pick-ups and stickups, the nav beacon for bounty hunting (i'd wait until you get a better ship though - if ever)

as for the cut and paste carbon copy comments you obviously have yet to explore each system - they are far from carbon copies.

The bottom line here is, don't take missions that you're not equipped for.

Fed Distress is full of hot-shot jocks trying out their top of the line ships, similar story at Freeport.

4h isn't a lot of play-time. I'd suggest a lot more practice with the offline missions and running some trade routes to get a feel for your ship.

Invariably the released game looks a lot like beta.

We'll have to assume that yes, there will be a resemblance. However, things are still changing, being adjusted and balanced. And when the game world opens up fully, it may even be hard to find other players to get ganked by.

I'm in 2 betas at the moment, both supposedly to come out near the end of this year, both look quite unfinished and with odd bugs here and there. The other game has delivered a near-seamless product with (some of the) previous expansions. The Frontier games of the past came quite bugged after launch. However, what I have seen so far makes me think we are in for a treat. We already got one.

Go hunt pirates, drop by the nav beacons, look at USS'es, visit resource extraction sites. If shooting stuff is what you want to do, go there. Or run quickly if other players show up at the conflict zones.

:D S

1 month ago there was no combat missions whatsoever. No police, Not much of anything, I can assure you people were moaning back then 2 about the same sort of things, this should be feature complete, no this now, means no this later.

The game is being made in stages. Its not a feature complete beta. There is no law saying all betas have to be feature complete.

They arent giving us stuff as soon as its ready either, the day before the beta they didnt have no vipers, then over night they finished them and stuck it in the game. They are building up features and adding them to the game as they see fit.

that's just because many games in recent years have been labelled beta while they are actually final versions

this beta differs a lot from that concept - and i wouldnt call ED a "game" at this moment - it is a test for certain mechanic, which will resultin a great game a soon as the pieces are put together and properly balanced
