Alien archaeology and other mysteries: Breaking News, Theories and Tinfoil Hattery

Just a passing thought, & I’m sure someone must have checked, but what happens when a UA/TS is taken to a crashed goid scout (or even a live one if anyone has had the time to record it)- does the transmitted wireframe ship diagram indicate anything?
and what does it transmit for the other goid ships?

just curious!

The UA will always transmit the wire frame coordinates of the ship you are in. I two players in different ships listen to it at the same time, they will hear different signals.
If you are in the SRV, you get the name of the planet you are on. No wire frame coordinates.

Ah, sorry I wasn’t clear... I was wondering what does it signal if it’s dropped out of your ship and you move some distance away, does it send a wireframe picture of the scout/medusa etc? I was just musing on the true purpose of the UA-were they searching for a specific ship or lost goid ships which they’re trying to locate. It seems to be another aspect of the puzzle that we never actually solved.

If you jettison an UA, it will scan you immediately. After that you get your own wire-frame, no matter what.

If you sneak up on a free floater it will transmit the closest stellar body's ID, until you break the 1000m limit. Then it will scan you.

I don't think there are any exceptions. It's either your ship or the closest stellar body.

If you want the Medusa wire-frame, you need to get a Medusa. ;)

nah, I hear they turn you to stone with one glance! :D

I remembered there was some discussion as to whether UA/TS were searching for a specific ship, or goids/wrecks from the previous invasion, or just scouting the activities of humanity in general; yet another of the puzzles in this game that never got a satisfactory answer. We need to capture a goid and threaten it with weedkiller until it tells us all its secrets (if it was a labrador we could just rub its tummy ).

Out of curiosity, while we're on the topic: do the UA draw pretty pictures of the Ship Launched Fighters? It might be interesting to see how they respond to the approach of a Guardian Hybrid.

Did a quick search (very quick, as not had my morning coffee yet) but didn't find any mention of this, so apologies if it's already been covered!

good thought - should be checked !

Hmmm hadn't realized that. In what format is the name of the planet given? Like galactic coordinates or actual names and numbers as they appear in our human database?

On Another note. I very much suspect the Probes and sensors might give the Thargoids the ability to teleport/warpgate anywhere into a system by using these sensors.

Basically these things scan for objects, give a "coordinate" solution, transmit it to their bases, which the Thargoids interface with and basically Thargoids are then able to gate in next to a buddy's ship or hyperdict you.

The name is transmitted in Morse code(pseudo) in the same format at as we have in our databases. It even transmits the name of space stations, if they are the dominant body(in the station instance). In deep space, you get the system name.
When the UAs were first found, this was all they transmitted. The ship scan came later. As did the pointing to Merope.

My guess is that you will still get the stellar body names, if you listen to it from an SLF. ;)

I quite like that last idea about them being coord transmitters so they can jump in to any point in a system, that would be an interesting "LINK" to the map thing thats displayed in the thargoid sites, one colour could be sensors the other probes, or it could be one colour are active warp in points the other colour for ones en route.

Thoughts?

That's an incredible piece of Intel there. You see it tells us three things.

-The Thargoids know our old school morse.
-Tied to that they know our language.
-They have access or gained entry into our database. (Not implausible as they can pull them from one of the destroyed ships they scan).

Lastly we can only wonder what purpose do they have in encoding THEIR technology with our methods of communication. One can not NOT start wondering if their INTENT was to communicate with us specifically.

Might want to read the description of the UA parts, looked like it had some manufactured, the theory that UAs could have been human made was an option back then, not sure what is the canon right now.

Well... One of the recent books have humans working with Thargoids, and the books get verified NOT to be fake or against the story so.... It's possible someone could be trying to assist.
