Will there be more than 2 New Ships?

If there's anything we don't know about, that would presumably be revealed at the last opportunity which would be the last livestream. I'm not saying there is anything, but it's possible they might throw in something we didn't know about.

There won't be one, and we don't need new ships, period.

You have absolutely no say over what over people need.

I wouldnt be surprised if there would be a mining and explo ship. With mining-locked hardpoints so the ship can do everything without also doubling as a flying fortress.

I'd say we don't need any pointless ships, that don't actually add anything new to the game. Hopefully any new ships can do something existing ships either cannot do, or can't do as well (but without eclipsing existing ships... which is difficult to manage).

For instance, what we know about the Mamba is that it's a bit bigger than a Python (but probably still medium), with apparently oversized engines, and was a "racer" in lore. We don't know how that translates into ED, and whether "big engines" only refers to thrusters rather than FSD. If it's merely fast in normal space, it might be a medium-sized rival to the Courier and Clipper. But if it has a size 6 FSD in a medium ship that weighs about as much as a Python... then it will out-jump the Anaconda.

And why shouldn't it? Why not have a stripped-down "racer" ship that is mostly engine outjump a bulky freighter? It would be something new, and it certainly wouldn't replace the Anaconda.

Or perhaps the Krait Phantom will do that. We know it's smaller than the exiting Krait, preumably it's lighter, but we don't know what size FSD it will have. If it's downsized to a 4, jumprange is likely to be disappointing. But if it stays at 5, in a lighter ship... that could be useful. Not sure what would happen to the AspX in that case. Possibly if it requires Guardian tech, it could replace the AspX for those that do the Guardian grind.

Funny thing is, I see in a lot of discord servers complaints that there are "too many ships already." FDev won't be able to please everyone, because it seems there's some players who will insist on being upset and/or offended no matter what they do. :D

We could use a luxury explorer, maybe a new Saud kruger or gutamaya model. Large but with nice sc handling, at least 6 optionals and a fighter.

I think this is less of an issue now that they un-restricted all the specialized compartments on the three existing Saud-Kruger ships.
But personally I'd like to see new ships. I'd just like to see them fill in actual niches that have nothing currently in them. Like a medium Imperial ship, or a small Federal ship, or the nigh-legendary Panther Clipper.

We will have Mamba and Krait Phantom. Who knows if there are more or not. I don't think ppl need more medium ships, with these 2 we will have enough. We lack small and large now.
Some Imperial medium class combat ships wouldn't go amiss, seeing as we currently have none to rival the Feds Dropship, Gunship, Assualt ship or the Alliance versions of the same.

Come on Fdev, FREE the Imperial Hunter! You know it makes sense

The Ships live stream is on 8 November (19:00 GMT). Two new ships were already found in the beta. How does Frontier plan to fill 1 hour with 2 ships or is there a third ship?

The length of the stream gives me hope that there will be more than the two leaked ships. I'm still hoping for the Panther to show up. Leaking the Krait Phantom was fine, people found that name weeks agon, and it features in the trailer. Leaking the Mamba, well, people were long asking for a FdL competitor. I really really hope that's not all there is.

That be the Gu-97 fighter, IMO, so we already have that.

The Krait Phantom is not a new ship to me, it's a variant.

I would like a medium ship (phantom/krait size) with a 6-size FSD and a panoramic cockpit for long range mining and exploration.

An imperial ship (Gutamaya) in this role would fill a lot of gaps actually...

Unfortunately, I'm under the impression that FDev doesn't want to release new rank locked ship at all. They would probably have to decide to unlock all the ships first (or decide on a totally new way to get them), before expanding Imperial and Federal fleets. I'm afraid it might not happen before a good long while, if ever.

Also, you're Imperial Hunter concept art clearly falls under the "it's already in the game!" category, just like the famous Imperial Explorer. The Hunter is the GU-97 SLF, and the Explorer is now called Cutter. This is pretty much obvious to me. (Edit : Ninja'd)

This is the profile of the Gu-97 fighter in game

It's front on profile looks very different to that of the Hunter concept art, with the Hunter clearly meant to be a much bigger ship if you look up the full size image

The front, yes, it's different, but the profile, nope, it's exactly the same. Almost identical in every respect. And doesn't that front remind you of something? It's now the Chieftain front. This is concept art. Every part of it is subject to being resized and repurposed for another project. Clearly, the concept art you showed has been extensively exploited already (front went to the Chief, and general profile to the GU-97).

Hey look, I feel you. I'm a Gutamaya sucker too. The Clipper is my main ride, and I love my Cutter too. And nothing would please me more than a new Gutamaya baby. But I really don't think that piece of Imperial Hunter concept art is going to yield anything more, unfortunately.

I'm thinking there is just the 2, which I'm okay with. Tho i wish they would give the cutter some love; either upgrade a hardpoint, give it a bit better pitch rate, or better distributor.

The only similarity is the fixed wing engines (of which the Cheiftan has 4 not 2 like the hunter) other than that completely different...

Err... If you really can't relate the front of the Chieftain with the front of the Hunter, that's fine. I do. The overall shape of the Hunter's main body part sends huge Chieftain vibes towards me, while the wings and engines are clearly identical (especially with a look from the side) to the GU-97 wings and engines. I can't fathom how those similarities don't strike you as hard as they strike me, but well, everyone's got his own pair of eyes. No biggie.

Nope don't see it.

Cheiftain has square canopy, Hunter has elongated canopy split in to 6 window parts
Cheiftain has 2 large intakes either side of the canopy, Hunter does not
Cheiftain body is square shaped, Hunter body angled
Chieftain has rear spoilers, Hunter has no spoiler but 2 small external thrusters instead
Chieftain has 2 central thrusters at the back, Hunter has 1 central thruster at the back

I could go on... but as you say everyone has their own eyes. Mine just happen to pick up on glaring details like that :)
