News Beyond - Chapter Four Livestreams (08.11.2018) – New Ships

If there is indeed only going to be the two new ships, I'd love to see a new SRV as a little surprise element......but not expecting it.....

Aw.. was really hoping for a surprise SRV too, given that rumour had been floating about. Oh, well.

Shortest Live stream ever with pretty much zero data given or shown on the new ships.

We do know the Phantom crashes well though

After three solid and interesting streams, that one was poor, both in content and delivery.

What's the point in showcasing two new ships yet not showing internals and hardpoint positions? It's not like there wasn't time, the whole thing was wrapped in 35 mins.

Can’t believe there were no internal details: I wanted to know Thruster / PP size, how big a shield generator will fit on the Mamba, FSD size on the Phantom ... can only assume these really aren’t ready yet ...

Meh. I love the update so far but this stream was underwhelming.

Mamba is a kitchen oven. It's supposed to be fast ? not even 500m/s is fast ? I sure hope they didn't engineer it with G5 DD + drag otherwise it's going to be a lemon. I suppose they used Clean drives in this case but then heat would make even less sense.

Krait seems nice, faster than MK2 and hopefully longer FSD range. With 8 internals it might turn out to be a fine exploration ship (same FSD, lighter hull, should yield more range)

I was hoping for a secret reveal at the end (SRV ? Panther Clipper ? or a dedicated miner would have made sense) but even though these new additions seem very nice (heat nonwithstanding) I feel a tad disappointed.

Still, overall impression for Beyond is very positive.

Find out next week.

Adam's noseplant and Ed's reaction, well worth the price of admission. I hope they're in the pub now.

In boost the Krait Phantom was faster than the Mamba - but with the heat issues on the mamba perhaps it didn't have drag drives...

I think the lack of detail about the ships was a bit naughty, we'll have to wait until next week to engineer the socks off them both and find out ourselves :D

Guys, that was honest to god a hot mess. You never managed power and didn't go below 100% heat in the fight, you crashed into the ground like 4 times, and you left your wing chat on for so long that we genuinely couldn't tell what was being said. You didn't release *any* information that wasn't already known. We wanted to know what size the optional internal slots were, not just how many there were. You didn't mention about core internal sizes either. Instead you just showed us once again how bad of pilots you were.

I’m at work so I haven’t seen the stream yet, but it sounds like they didn’t even go over the internals for each ship?

Two ships only for an entire stream, and they didn’t even show the internals???

Really??!!?!? :S

That’s very disappointing.

Only 40 minutes, Mengy. Most of it was a show-off for the ships - a nice crash by Adam in the Krait :)

No useful info about outfitting - we'll all know in a few days anyway :D

Totally dissapointed that we are not getting even one large ship, for people that already have one or all of the big 3 ships there is no point for many people to bother with small or medium ships, a really wasted opportunity to give many any desire to start playing again.

They were mentioned, and here they are in writing, courtesy of Will ..

Krait Phantom

With a spacious cargo hold and a relatively generous quantity of hardpoints, the Krait Phantom is a versatile ship suited to a range of roles. It has enough firepower to hold its own against larger targets, and enough straight-line speed to outpace smaller targets. The ship also offers eight internal compartments, allowing the pilot to tailor the ship to their requirements. And while it lacks the firepower and fighter bay of its sister ship, the Krait Mk II, it is both faster and lighter.

  • 2 Large and 2 Medium Hardpoints
  • 8 Internal Optional slots
  • Top speed of 256m/s and a boost speed of 358m/s
  • 8.23LY laden FSD range
  • Approximately 37,000,000 credits

Mamba

Based on an unreleased racing prototype, the Mamba is one of the fastest ships in production. It can also deliver a lot of punishment, boasting one huge and two large hardpoints. This emphasis on firepower and speed means the ship can hit hard and fast, vanishing before the target has a chance to react. Comparisons to the Fer-de-Lance, also produced by Zorgon Peterson, will be inevitable, but the Mamba is in fact faster in a straight line, while being slightly less maneuverable.

  • 1 Huge, 2 Large and 2 Small Hardpoints
  • 5 Internal Optional slots
  • Top speed of 316m/s and a boost speed of 387m/s
  • 6.37LY laden FSD range
  • Approximately 55,000,000 credits

Although I like the new ships as they are, I feel they are not connected to the Chapter 4 update. There are exploration and mining improvements, yet we get a Krait variant and another combat ship? I don't see the concept there. I thought you would introduce something for exploration, maybe even a new breed of ship line or something. A new ship for miners, for example. The two ships shown feel like they've been left over from the editing room and were just shoved in here. Not in line with the other parts of the update at all. Maybe I expected too much, I don't know.
