Considering humanity’s unjust bias against artificially intelligent persons, I’d say *humanity* is actually the threat and that AIs are the innocent victims in need of saving.
This may sound like an unpopular opinion, but understand that all of the great moral reformers throughout history held opinions that were initially unpopular.

They sure do! I AM overlord of the galaxy. It's just I haven't communicated it, that's why nobody knows.
An Overlord is just one of my underlings as Supreme Being. There are a great many Overlords. In charge or taking care of minor issues such as toast landing butter side down or things being in the last place you look. That kind of thing. These Overlords report to other junior officials such as minor prophets and other assorted dieties. I believe Zarek is the overlord responsible for traffic management, but has zealously expanded his own mandate to include ED. Instead of concentrating on his primary objective as the God of Traffic Wardens.

No it wasn't me.
The only authentic overlordship is the overlordship acknowledged by others. Many commanders regard me as their personal overlord, and publicly verbalize this:

As with all meaningful titles, one also needs the credentials that back them. I have the credentials.

I am on the other team, We should be very careful about what we create, Especially as far as artificial intelligence is concerned.
The most intelligent thing to do when it comes to humans would be to wipe us out, we obviously would never consider wiping ourselves out as we are human, that would be silly for us to think that, though it does not stop us getting close to things that might, Destroying our home for one example.
The problems that have plagued humanity for ages are for the most part human made problems, so eliminate humans and those problems go away.
To create an AI and assume we can enslave it do do good for us is just hugely arrogant, In the long run it can only end bad for us.
