PvP THIS is how you deal with Mine layer Cobra Gankers.

Turrets & Fighters is what makes big ships fun to pilot. Kite uses PA which should be noted. That gives me ideas for my vette. I'm bored with the MC build. Variety is the spice of life. I'm glad ED offers us a vast array of tactical options for different combat styles.

Im glad you get it. o7

Ahahahahha Maximum easy mode engaged. C'mon man, even if he is a ganker, he's picking targets with ten times the HP values, hugely bigger guns and using very skill based weapons.

One of your opening lines: "Let the turrets and fighter do all the work"

^That right there is why I dislike big ship pilots.

1) The video is about how to deal with Mine layer gankers.
Thats what it shows.

2) you think, for some reason,it requires more skill to take a cheap cobra and spam mines than it is to use a combination of turrets and fixed plasmas while managing a fighter and trying to hit a target the size of a fly while navigating a mine field.

You dont play Elite much, do you?

XD

Amazing the amount of salt here.

The video is exactly what it says it is.

How to beat a mine layer cobra.

Never said i was stoked.

Never said i was bragging.

It is what it is. If you all want to ingnore the fact that cobra build kills big sips plennty and its a real problem and common in elite - go ahead.

Denial is a powerfull tool most "pilots" use.

It is a useful video, as it shows how to deal with this kind of attack.
Most cmdrs will habitually try to deal with it head on. That would have been an expensive mistake in this case.
I have seen Cobras like this take down unprepared cmdrs.

Thanks man. I appreciate that.

This particular commander was braggin in discord that he has killed about 14 vettes and a handfull of cutters so why people act like this is not a real issue in Elite is beyond me.

No such things as underhanded means, unless someone is cheating. There is only what works and what does not.

Most mine Cobras are specifically built to knock out larger ships and are essentially useless vs. smaller ones. It's far easier to fight one in a Viper than in an Anaconda, for example.

In practice, you are only going to be attacked by small ships with mines if you are in a very large vessel, which makes it strange, IMO, to offer criticism over the use of a large vessel and what many large vessels would be equipped with.

One may not like the style of combat shown, nor be particularly impressed with the abilities or attitude of the pilot, but for those interdicted and attacked by such ships, the basic advice of keep your distance and hurl fighters at the enemy until they blow up or leave is sound. In this specific scenario, the loadout used by Kite essentially prohibited any other basic strategy than what he advocated; landing efficient PA shots on small vessels with large ones, while not impossible, is going to be an exercise in futility for most CMDRs that would be singled out for these attacks (primarily PvEers in big ships).

Video could have done with less mocking commentary about the opposition, but otherwise serves it's purpose.

Gankers mock plenty. Including this one.

Its time they got as good as they give.
You are right in what you say above though, and have a better understanding of what flying a big ship is actually like compared to most on this thread.

For those of you saying i have no skill - heres someone my own size picking on me.

Enjoy!

Nooo, we said it does'nt take a lot of skill to pop a cobra with turrets and a fighter. (I might add the cobra pilot was'nt very good either, you should'nt be hitting him with the plasmas, like at all.)

And big ship fights are just a showcase of who has the most time and money.

Aaaaand, it outright does take more skill to mine someone, or even attack a big ship with a smaller one, something you should try and get back to us.

Note the signature please. I fly small ships 90% of the time. I play elite alot. I can point out straight up, if the cobra used the mines as projectile weapons, you would have been screwed, luckily he chose to focus the fighter over dropping your shields.

I will add, reliance on an aimbot, does not a skilled pilot make.

Moreover, if he'd have taken flechettes on a well built viper or courier, you'd probably have eaten a rebuy, another weapon that takes a lot of skill to master, unlike said turrets and clicking "Attack target" for the fighter.

I’m disappointed at the Cobra pilots performance. Focusing on your ship, the SLF will eventually run into those mines. SLF flight pattern is fairly predictable. They tend to avoid the firing cone in front of their target, knowing this, you can technically guide an SLF into your mines.

^this. I was shaking my head at him focusing on the SLF.

Indeed, im somewhat bemused by this too.

How exactly is a player whos prepared to go one v one against someone with a ship carrying more than double his firepower a ganker?

Funny how you guys get hung up on labels. Would you feel better if he called him the "griefer"?

"THIS is how you deal with incompetent mine layer griefers"
or
"THIS is how you deal with mine layer griefers in training"

Talking about labels: I don't see this as griefing at all! He uses mines which is why they are in the game.. to be used you know... and they are easily avoided by whatching where you fly or by simply focusing on flying in reverse... H eis trying to make a small ship competitive in combat that's if anything creative play... I like these guys, they spice open up a bit once in a while...

uhm...ganker, griefer, whatsoever...fact, according to the video: The Cobra-Pilot dicted the Corvette, so HE choosed the bigger target, hoping to get a fast kill outgunned.

As far as it concerns me: the Cobra-pilot deserved what he asked (but not hoped) for.

Nice kill o7

Bingo. I'm not gonna call the aggressors in these events the "dictors" or other such nonsense. The current terms we have tell the listener precisely what happened. Its all the same to me. I've seen this tactic first hand, with the major difference here being he's gone lone wolf with it. For all we know he was a ganker that got left high and dry by his ganker friends.
