Collection of Ideas for Elite 4

Multiplayer means no huge newtonian systems, means no buy.
This is an extremely long thread, so I don't want to check everything that's been said before but IIRC there's supposed to be two versions of Elite IV (eventually). The single-player, which can be Newtonian and would therefore be the one I'd buy, and the multiplayer which probably wouldn't interest me anyway. So I'm happy :)

so play.com thinks we only have 2 years to wait.
i think they come up with their release dates by using a calander as a dart board and where ever the dart sticks is the release date.

I think it's as simple as not having an empty field in the product database. As T.j. says it also allows for pre-ordering.

Oh I understand the pre-order thing but surely it would show more integrity to just have "TBA" in the release date field than to randomly postulate when it might be coming out. It's not something that really gets my back up but it does seem to be an oddity.

That wasn't precisely the reading of it that I had in mind, but yes, as Michael said Play.com's date for Elite IV is as unofficial as the last one.

But for myself I am also very much a RPG-player so I just pre-ordered Fallout 3 and Fable II - that is my entertainment for the coming cold winter-months. Large-scale story-driven games happens to be my thing.

I suppose giving a date will make custoners think I wll get it on ..... date, so are more likely to place the order instead of TBA giving the uncertainty of if not when.

It could be considered a bit underhand.

Fallout looks a little like STALKER which I didn't enjoy that much at all. It takes a bit to get me hooked on an RPG and the last one was Mass Effect (Of which I have started through for the second time). Hopefully Fallout has a better story than STALKER did because that one got relegated to the shelf fairly quickly.

I think Dawn of War 2 might have to be on the list.

Some sort of modding is something we would like to add, though I doubt we will go as far as full-fledged cities - my initial guess is that it would be way to much work to do so.

Hi Stefan,

Could it be something in the way of a construction add-on pack?

It's certainly kept life in likes of Freespace and Freelancer. I have some hopes for significantly more content in Mass Effect also.

I guess one should never say never, but I doubt it - so long as we are talking about cities.

In order to facilitate this we would have to release quite a few of our internal tools and converters (and write a few new ones) and there is nothing quite as flaky as an inhouse development tool

In the end it comes down to a guess if it is worth the effort to update all those tools to a state where a user's mental health won't be at risk.

But I am well aware that the community wants to mod games and I find that very cool thing that should be supported in one form or another.

OH YES!

We want to mod!

Indoors, outdoors.

And the coloring of our ships.

Really: as long as I can build my own villa on the planet of my choice - or rent a apartment at the space station of my choice and do some interior modulations with my hard earned credits I am fine...
