The Commanders Awards for 2018: Your Ship of the Year

Ship of the year, huh?

I'd say ship of every year, and the years to come:

:D

For me its the Diamondback Explorer. With the 3.0 changes and Engineering its hands down the best ship in the game for me.
The Cobra 3 coming in close behind

The Krait is nice but I still Feel like the Python is more stout then the Krait. I do like the fighter bay and the Placement is awesome for Fixed weapons. I slapped some pulse lasers today and it was a good time!
The Chieftain is a Good replacement for the FAS but its hard points dont jive with me and it feels more jumpy however it does have a better shields but not the hull or sturdyness of the FAS IMO (<3 FAS)
The Challenger has promise but I still have not found a use for it debating on a Laser boat i just don't know
The Crusader........Nope Keelback better NEXT
The T10 is one mining machine. Perfect for those HazREZ's
The Phantom...Well its going to be my PVP combat ship or I am going back to the FAS not sure yet..... I don't have much time in it and i am not to impressed
Mamba....naw not even going to bother with it not my cup of tea.

I concur.

For RES hunting nothing beats my Chieftain, fun and firepower in an agile package.
Krait MK.II is best all-rounder, the ship I spend the most time in, and it also makes for a great heavy combat boat.

From the currently available ships it'd be the Krait mk2 although the Phantom might displace it, visually the Mamba but it's as unbalanced as me! ;)

I like the Krait, its displaced my much loved Vulture as my combat ship of choice. Its great against scouts and npc's.

Another vote for the Krait MKII. In a game where you spend most of the time looking at your cockpit, I find the Krait's a breath of fresh air. I love to see those weapons in combat, and the limited upper-side view is not that bad at all. It's also a nice ship to fly for many things.

Frontier designers have done an awesome job with this ship, congratulations!

I'm going for the Adder (stop laughing at the back!)

Ok, so it's not the best at anything, the cockpit view isn't great, but it's the first real multi-role ship that you get to fly and it can do what you need without a large rebuy.

Combat - 2 rails and a Multi, shields and a couple of MRP. Never going to kill a Cutter but great for low level assassinations and res hunting.

Trade - 20T of cargo and enough speed to run when interdicted will help to get your credits built up at the start.

Exploration - 30ly jump range with some low level FSD engineering and can carry the essentials - SRV, scoop and scanners

It's a great little mission runner, mat scavenger and can even do some mining.

I vote for the upcoming re-mastered unrestricted Beluga.

Finally a ship that can carry as many optionals as the Conda, but in style and luxury :D

Going to take her to Beagle Point on DW2 on my alt account.

1. Vulture - Fits my combat style perfectly...fast paced combat, up close and personal on their tail
2. Krait Mk2 - Amazing all rounder (looking forward to the Phantom though!)
3. Python - My workhorse

Its so unlike me to express a non-controversial opinion on this forum, but I'm wholly in agreement that the Krait MkII is the definite ship of the year.

In case anyone is interested in why I'm so emphatically in support of the Krait, the most fun I've had in elite all year was when I was hard core thargoid scout hunting in defence of Kamadhenu, where I splatted ~600 scouts in a week. I tried that initially in a Type 10, and it was awful, even fully engineered, jumped into a Krait mkII and it became incredible fun.

Another aspect to consider is the impact of Guardian FSD boosters and shield packages, where we had ships hobbled by poor jump range we now have an FDL that can get around in a more reasonable fashion, where had hull tanks (FAS) we can have a ship that boasts decent shields.

I reckon these two additions to the game opened up a lot roles for ships that we wouldn't have considered previously, not really a call for module of the year but I wouldn't have considered a Krait mk2 for exploration without an FSD booster or expected to fly a FAS with 1000 MJ + shields (it results in a different approach to combat)

Have to agree with the MKII. I replaced two of my Pythons with them. The Equusala and the Turner's Quest. The Spear of Alioth will remain a Python however.

1. Krait II

Cmdr 3....Newb Explorer Cmdr about to go onto to visit all the black he/she can.

2. Krait Phantom (Beta testing only, but could replace my Number 1 spot
3. ASP
4. Conda

Similarly I nominate the K-MkII and the iChief. But, in reverse order. The Alliance Chieftain is a masterpiece. I consider myself a combat focused pilot with an interest in any medium sized ship. Having flown everything in that range that can fight, nothing has been able to shift me out of my moderately engineered iChief. not even the coming Mamba has a chance to supplant my iChief.

The K-MkII is a close second as my almost favorite ship. It has the ability to actually get me to fly those larger fetch/deliver missions. The Python was never something that encouraged me to bring it out unless some issue forced me to haul. Even with the consolation that the Python would certainly out carry anything to a medium pad, I just opted to go BH instead. I use the K-MkII the exact same way I used the Python, for hauling. The only difference is now I am happy, even pleased, to climb out of the shipyard in my Krait.

My sentiment. Krait supreme.
