Does Squadrons treat members or allies as a large wing? F-Dev get in here!

In large battles will we still have crossfire issues with friends when facing foes? I'm seriously hoping squadrons remedies this for the big fights because I haven't sampled Beta at all.

So can anybody with information answer this one?

If squadrons isn't the answers then can FD please implement sub wings! Affiliated wings!

Squadrons is currently just an in-game group communication tool.
It doesn't have any effect on wings or 'friendly fire' behavior.

"14 ships in the same instance" has occurred in the game even before Squadrons, so they're probably okay here.

Yes, but we were both referring to the 'squadron' part. But I think you probably knew that.

Besides, I'll just point to the powerplay trailer video for a prime example of them pimping stuff that never happened.

Well then Squadrons is absolutely shocking in my opinion. How on Earth would FDev ignore the obvious with their chat on large scale PvP engagements, that players wouldn't want for this irritating issue to be remedied through Squadrons!

The friendly fire thing during large engagements is an absolute pain in the backside. Especially if any unfamiliars drop in.

There should be a tagging system where by players even outside of a wing can enable or disable friend or foe to ignore registering as hostile red from any crossfire.

Get this sorted FD, please!

Only thing this mockup is bringing is the view of your faction systems without the need to jump in.
The rest is...

Happened but not recommended. Check feedback from QA on CZ goid in beta bug report.

Honestly, I'm not expecting many pvp engagements any larger than 4v4 wings like we have now.
It's not like the changes have suddenly made large scale instances a thing.

That would require changes to the networking stack, and none of the devs mentioned it during the beta. From what I can remember from the livestreams, squadrons are mostly a social networking feature and meant to replace a few of the 3rd party tools people use.

Understand your comments but I'm sure things have been kept 4v4 for balancing purposes. Can you imagine a clan of 20 commanders vs 5... carnage! wouldn't matter how skilled you were. Though I'd like to see 6v6 I think the limits work well and I don't see the need for massive engagements (yet). Maybe in the future!

Sandro or someone mentioned in a Livestream or whatever better solutions to large scale PvP engagements since we're confined to the four per wing mechanic currently. That's why I thought Squadrons was going to be it!

Sounds like you heard what you wanted to hear. Sandro hasn't been on the team for quite a while, so that was probably around a year ago, and i don't recall him saying anything like that - squadrons were always about group chat, and that's about all they would ever do to help organuse PvP. Squad membership is also considered in instance selection, but that's about it.

It pretty much works this way anyway, only everybody is in separate wings becoming red despite being a friend.

So I guess the solution could be to enable friend or for tags as I'd said, to treat crossfire as a non issue where consented.
