News Beyond - Chapter Four - Out now!

Shame they just fail to get it right so often and so consistently. Not reinventing the wheel here, Frontier.

Thanks to all. Top work. Have a a Christmas beer on me :)

Thanks. Until the Frontier Devs figure out all the upgrade issues starting with just logging in a beer is currently more reliable. Still why doesn't my Bud light can have snowflakes on it? The Christmas beer thing...

Was expecting more from this release, this update took only 10 minutes (beta preinstalled).
Now I have to wait for servers. This game is doomed.

Proper update should last at least 1 hour for thrills.
Hauler Black Terrain color looks epic!

Let reset all stats so we all start from scratch. You know like re-install windows. It always works and run faster :D

I use Auslogics BootSpeed 10 to keep my computer happy. Just installed three hard drives with 12 Tb I'll never use. But I have plenty of storage to backup my SSD C: drive.

The ED update is in the usual mess launching it. I'm at Robigo Mines in space within in the fire zone in Open and no one is around. Even the gankers haven't shown up. Missions are not available at the moment. I cannot go to supercruise without the game disconnecting. Maybe I should go fly an airplane in X-Plane 11 and come back tomorrow. That is so much more immersive with real life pilot skills than any space ship in ED.

Server status: issues detected!

Thumbs up frontier! That's why I hate server bound games and signed for an offline version.

Will look again in a week or two, I've paid for playing and not for error seeking.

You see, Frontier. This is why you start the upgrade at midnight of the release day, so that most of these bugs are worked out BEFORE people will generally be playing for the most part. You don't start it such that the bugs are being worked out right when the majority of people will wanna start playing it, namely in the evening after work. That's just common sense...

So, you put out a massive update at 5PM uk time....... and when your rented Amazon servers cant cope you wonder why no one at Amazon is answering the phone...... I dont care how big Amazon is, at 5pm they have all gone home and you'll have one Engineer on Stand-By.... Its not like this hasn't happened before either.

Man people are vultures these days.

Are there server issues? Yes. Will there be delays in certain things? Yes. Is this a FREE update? Yes! [yesnod]

With current gaming culture surrounded by loot boxes, Paid game-breaking DLC and gated content, I for one applaud Fdev for showing passion in their products and for giving me the opportunity to enjoy a true classic piece of gaming not lost in the "Money first game play Second" mentality.

Ill happily wait patiently for the server issues to resolve so I can enjoy a true masterpiece of gaming, and I encourage everyone else to do the same.

Thank you Fdev for everything thus far, and I look forward to what the future holds for Elite Dangerous.

p.s. Please change one of the hardpoints on a type 7 to medium to make it a viable mining ship? [haha][haha][haha][haha][haha][big grin]

That's.....generally not how datacenters work, the internet doesn't really run on any specific timezone, so they are usually staffed 24/7 with holidays and similar only times there might be low volume, add that the servers are spread out across the world.

So what you're saying is that it's not the server masters' fault, it's just that Frontier is incompetent? :p

b0llocks, thatsa EXACTLY how it works, unless you're a manager trying to talk ya way outta the crap. Im an engineer for a big ISP. 24/7 follow the Sun is sub standard that simplly does not work in reality. Ask the Banks, they vote with their wallets on this kinda stuff.

well, the way I see it is, I paid for a game which I have thoroughly enjoyed for the short time I've played it. the Dev's have tried to provide more and more for my money with their updates and today was launch day of the biggest patch they have released yet. I keep getting server connection errors, as do you all BUT at least I know they have detected issues their end and it's not something screwed my end. Now, while I sit here in the warmth and comfort of my own home, albeit slightly frustrated, some poor soul or souls is/are trying to sort out the server issues which are probably even more frustrating for them than for me and certainly a whole lot more work. I imagine the guys and girls at Frontier are really disappointed that on their big launch day, the gremlins invade and spoil their party.

I say, THANK YOU to Frontier Developments for all their efforts and I really hope they manage to get things sorted without too much heart ache for themselves. Also as regards the time of day to release the game, when should they do so? With the earth spinning on it's axis and rotating around the sun it will ALWAYS be 5pm somewhere on our planet so there is no best time to release the update from my point of view.

Not trying to start a war or offend anyone hear CMDRS it's just my view on things.

Happy Christmas all and best of luck to the guys/gals trying to sort this for us.

You do know that amazon is based in Seattle. At 5pm in the UK it's 9am in Seattle and they're just getting into the office.

I don't know who you work for, but where I work the follow the sun support is far from sub standard. It really doesn't matter what time of the day it is, there's someone who knows their stuff fixing any problems that come up.
