Your 5 Dinosaurs

Here's a thought experiment:

Frontier approaches you and tells you they only have enough budget left to add 5 more dinosaurs to this game. But they can't decide, so they ask you, their biggest fan, get to decide which.

So, you get to pick ONLY FIVE dinosaurs, no more, to add to the game. Which do you choose to add, and why?

Here's my own list, which includes your fav:

Oviraptor - Unique and beautiful small animal.

Therizinosaurus - The claws are super interesting and could add new stuff to the game.

Acrocanthosaurus - One of the most unique looking large predators and super popular.

Dryosaurus - Cute small herbivore of a type we don't have and can be used to give context to Jurassic exhibits with Sauropods making them look much larger.

Ouranosaurus - A beautiful herbivore counterpart to Spinosaurus that will look great in lagoons.

Looks like I’ve joined the forum just in time to answer this question. Actually I could name a few more, but here we go:

  • Compsognathus - obviously, but also for obvious reasons, will never happen
  • Iguanodon - for its significance in real-world fossil excavation history
  • Protoceratops - a small horn dino without horns. Also nice to have another dino from a Mongolian excavation site.
  • Therizinosaurus - agree with you on that, Funderbunk
  • Plateosaurus - one to represent Triassic, maybe?
(Still, I’m very happy with what we got already, but hey, the more the merrier…)

If they add:

Herrerasaurus - An impressive alternative to Velociraptor and Deinonychus, which is also canon (although it never appeared so far)

Dimetrodon - An iconic carnivore with an unique appearance, which also was seen as a taxidermied specimen in Lockwood Manor

i would be totally satisfied. But to complete the 5:

Ouranosaurus - a very nice looking herbivore (yes, i like things with sails on their backs)

Therizinosaurus - another unique looking dinosaur, especially for an herbivore

Concavenator - beautiful carnivore, which also appeared as a taxidermied specimen in Lockwood Manor, "Fallen Kingdom"

I like this question. It forces people to pick which dinosaurs they'd most want added to the game.

Teratophoneus - A medium sized slender Tyrannosaurid that's already in the film canon (Fallen Kingdom). Also from the same area as Parasaurolophus, so it would pair nice with that.

Pachyrhinosaurus - Just a weird cool ceratopsian that's quite different from the ones that are already in the game.

Ouranosaurus - Another weird herbivore and we're lacking in Iguanodontians. We're also lacking in African herbivores and it would pair nicely with Spinosaurus as prey.

Plateosaurus - We're lacking in European dinosaurs and also early Sauropodomorphs. Plateosaurus would fill in that gap nicely (though it's also found in North America and Greenland)

Protoceratops - Would be nice to have a smaller ceratopsian. And it also serves as a nice local prey for Velociraptor.

Of course there are plenty of other cool dinosaurs I'd like to see added. But I think these are what the game could really use right now.

ANY five?

Herrerasaurus, Proceratosaurus, Segisaurus, Compsognathus, and Microceratus, since they're all film canon dinosaurs that we don't have yet. If I could add still more, I'd add Dreadnoughtus, Pachyrhinosaurus, Therizinosaurus, and Rugops (the latter two were used to make the Indominus rex).

A briefly seen corpse is apparently a Teratophoneus, despite nothing else indicating that species was alive in the park... but it's appearance is so brief and it looks so far decayed it could probably pass for an Allosaurus...

You may as well axe Segisaurus, Compsognathus and Microceratus from your list and go with one of the others, because if they can't find a way to work animals that small into the game, it seems reasonable to assume they'll never be added...

for me I'd be hard pressed to come up with 5 that would actually add something different to the game, as has been done with Troodon.

But compies would obviously have to be a unique feature. Iguanodon is an iconic dinosaur and could add an ornithopod that actually fights to the game. Other than that I've got nothing.

-Therizinosaurus or Deinocheirus
-Concavenator
-Acrocanthosaurus
-Plateosaurus or other prosauropod
-Barosaurus (based on the specimen BYU 9024. Oh yeah.)

Alioramus - Currently we only have one Tyrannosaurid in game, Alioramus would add some much needed variety to the group with it's sleek and slender appearance.

Diabloceratops - Just a weird cool ceratopsian with an awesome name, what's not to like?

Therizinosaurus - An incredibly unique and inserting herbivore that's essentially the love child of a prosaurpod and Freddy Krueger.

Ouranosaurus - A fan favorite from JPOG, Ouranosaurus would give us another Iguanodontid and another African herbivore.

Mosasaurus - No, I don't care if its not an actual dinosaur, I love marine reptiles and if any one of them deserves to be in the game its this one. It would be the largest creature in the entire game and be the most difficult to contain.

There are a lot of Dinos I would add, but my five top are:
- Iguanodon: A very common dinosaur, should be a basic at anything about dinosaurs.
- Albertosaurus: A different tyrannosaur and probably one of the most popular Rex relatives.
- Ornitholestes: Small carnivore. Looks enough different from the ones in game to give more variety to it. It's canon at the novels.
- Amargasaurus: Weird looking sauropod. Another one to give more variety.
- Leptoceratops: Small ceratopsian, around the size of Draco Rex. Soft canon to the movies.
