Considering the game has changed the lighting quite profoundly, I would recommend you take a look at your previous Gamma settings for the game from the options and adjust this or even consider your system settings where your RGB range are concerned.
I hear some people saying the game looks much too in your face bright and washed out etc, well those are two things I would recommend taking a look at as a starter point. Just a friendly post incase it is of any help raising awareness to.
My previously elevated gamma setting helped make my Full Range RGB setting look that little bit more bright in the darker areas of Elite, especially bringing out the different background Nebula etc. With this Q4 update it was a bit too much. Stations were much too bright and had a milky pink hue to them. Avatars were a bit too bloomed and had that hue also. Give it a try, incase it is of any help.
I can't say this will do much for the Instagram filter stuff I'm hearing from people, but anyways, try it. Give it time, see what you think.
