Ugh dude, complaining about engineer requirements is so 2016.

It used to be a lot more than 50. And rolls used to be weighted random. And matts were even harder to find (the ability to find geo sites and use analysis mode to find USS make this much easier). And specials were either random or had to be bought for rank.

Some of the rank/status requirements are still pretty janky, but they can be done. Hell, with the new mining you only need one cargo load of gems to go allied with any minor faction who owns a market.

OK, 50 tea, 23 allocation. Make your three trips and you're done. No big deal.

Oh yeah it's done like dinner! But maybe in some alternate universe people are play Elite Dangerous where getting those 50 tea or whatever is a real struggle. Like warcraft type raids or whatever. It's difficult because the Engineers aren't stoopid and they use folks who want their services to get the items rather than get it themselves. Smart!

And the recipes originally had those stupid commodities in them. Kids today don't know they are born, do they?

Young'uns have got it so easy nowadays, IIRC my allotment was like 5t (though I might mix that up with the cigars, hmm). Too bad my second CMDR hasn't gotten an invitation from him yet.

3 whole trips ........ The Agony ........ The Horror ........

It does amaze that no matter how easier it gets someone will complain that the stuff doesn't deliver itself. 23 rares in one shot, that is amazing.. Most times you lucky to get 10 or more of a rare. Also YES --- FDEV never seems to have the needed and supplied to have the same factor, more than once I have had to make one more run for one more rare. Buy as much as possible as sell the extra for profit is my suggestion

Remember its just a game until someone gets..... Never mind it is just a game.

I'm unlocking Broo Tarkin so I need 50 fujin tea. bUt the tea is sold in lots of 23 so that means 3 there and backs. I'm %100 positive the designers were laffing there butts off when they designed that. "Hahaha, make them waste time when it would be totally possible to sell 50 tea at a time. Hahahaha"

So let me get this straight..

You are playing a space game that has very significant emphasis on travelling and trade.

And your complaint is that to get access to an important game asset that you need to only do once and will provide every ship you ever possess with the ability to be improved, you need to make a massive three trading trips?

And because of this complaint you feel it necessary to demonstrate aggression to the game designers?

The words, entitlement, petulant and low boredom threshold come to mind.

Gotta........have it...........NOW!!!

I know right.

The issue isn't that people 'want it now', the issue is that people want engaging gameplay and this aint it. Doing it once was already a chore. There is no risk, challenge, excitement or anything to it. It is like FD had a brainstorm session start off with the question:"How can we make the most despised quest in games, 'fed-ex quests', even more terrible?", and then at some point a designer said:"I know, we can remove literally everything but the object itself, so nothing happens whatsoever. But that is not all, we'll make them do it multiple times. And no no, I aint done yet: we'll add variety to the number of times people have to do it, so it is even more irritating."

"Ladies and gentlemen, we have a winner!", said whatever numbnut was in charge.

No, normal games add something to the quest. Going from A to B is an excuse, a mcGuffin, to experience actual gameplay designed by the developers. This is the equivalent of re-shooting the Lord of the Rings trilogy, but remove Sauron, the Orcs and every other challenge and just have four dudes walk in a straight line for three movies in a row. Nobody makes those movies, because it is beyond absurd.

Nope.

It's the equivalent of a tiny minor scene at best in a movie.
To use your analogy it's like watching frodo cross the plains of mordor for 5 minutes... which unsurprisingly is exactly what we see.

So you think if it was made harder and more challenging the OP would not have complained? The way I read this post was that he had to make an extra trip because the rares did not come to 25 each or the engineer wanted more than 48. I am not disagreeing with you more emergent game play would help but maybe not with the OP.

Nice try OP. You forgot to add the obligatory lines that you've played this game since 1984, adore FD and want Lord Saviour DB's babies. Then you might have had the chance to suggest a tiny improvement that would make this allready fantastic game even better. As it stands you'll just attract a certain type of poster that will ridicule you, accuse you of being 8 years and such. After that people will start posting 'funny' images. Then a friendly mod will be along to lock the thread for going off-topic. ;)

Hutton Orbital has 52 per run.

Oh yea and a 75% discount on Anacondas.

If you find the rares unlocks a problem, remember that there is now an alternative: the Colonia engineers have trivial unlock requirements, are conveniently located in a compact 30 LY sphere, and have a full set of blueprints between them.

(And the more people use them, the sooner that will be a full set of G5 blueprints.)

There's just the small matter of traveling 23,000ly. :p

I think the reason he dislikes having to go a second time is probably related to how enjoyable he found the first run. ;)
