Bset Mining Ship?

Depends on how you mine..

I went mining last night with my mate in his conda, and im in a icourier. I scouted out the roids and used abrasion while he collected everything. Worked out great.

I've been using a Cobra IV and it's great - very nimble for targeting those fast spinning rocks, and squeezing inside a cracked core. But the cargo space is the limitation (once you've kitted out all the necessary limpet controllers). I'm tempted to fit out my Krait and see how well that works out.

T-10 is working well for me.

Good visibility, enough hard points to devote to mining and still have defence, and plenty of internals.

I've just kitted a Python out - all mining tools, 12 bin refinery, pros/coll limpets, space for shields, med hardpoint beam laser, point defence and a couple of shield boosters (oh and an SRV bay if anything nice pops up on a planet surface. :D

Pity I cant test it due to getting constant disconnects:mad:

Did you say a 12 bin refinery? Last time I mined, a 4A only had 10 bins. Has this changed?

Type-9

Has all the hard points to fit all the tools, plus a shield. Plenty enough cargo space, and looks right at home while mining.

You won’t be engaging in combat, because it’s a mining ship, but if you know what you’re doing you won’t need to engage in combat.

I was just about to post a question about mining ships, too. I don't have the rank to buy the Vette, Conda, or Cutter, and my T9 is just too slow to maneuver around a spinning rock. However, I have a Federal Dropship just collecting dust at Mars High. Do you folks think that might work as a decent mining ship?

It will work, and there is no rank requirement for an Anaconda. Only the Corvette and Cutter (other Federal doorstop ships and Imperial ships have rank requirements).

Quite right about the Anaconda rank, thanks IndigoWyrd. The price is restrictive, though (for me anyways).

Took the Orca mining today and had great fun with it. It's pretty perfect for fissure mining.

During the search it has good power capacity for the A grade scanner, great top speed for travelling, a lovely large cockpit window to spot deep core roids better. Then when you arrive at one it has decent turn rates and a central hardpoint for the seismic charge placing, not too much drift and good handling means it's quite intuitive.
Then it has decent cargo capacity (130T odd with shield, collector/prospector limpets and refinery) but is by no means expected to be a trader so less likely to see a player attack when returning to base. Decent jump range if you are travelling for best sale prices.

Also that lovely ding everytime I press boost! :)

Not sure if the best but for what I used it for it was amazing.
