Interdicted and killed by real player

I was in the Deciat system, going to Farseer and was interdicted and killed by a real player, is this allowed? is it a in-humble thing to do?

Yes it's allowed, submit and jump to another system quickly if you want to survive. Using silent running can increase your chances, even if you have to take a bit of heat damage.

Remember that alt f4'ing/ending the process in task manager can lead to trouble.

It's completely normal since inception of the Game and its total lack of effective C&P.

So yes, it's entirely possible anywhere and anytime.
And in hotspots like Deciat expect to meet such Players. They're a dime a dozen in busy Systems.

There's Alternatives to that experience though : Mobius Private Group (PvE only) or Solo Mode.
In most Systems (non-hotspot) there'll be no notable difference between Game Modes though. There, everything plays like Solo Mode due to common lack of Player presence.

Here's a easy fix for your problem:

1. Target suspicious Cmdr upon entering the system.
2. See if he is facing/scanning you with HP deployed
3a. Yes -> Jump to another system and come back later.
3b. No -> fly away in SC (not directly to your destination) and keep suspicious Cmdr targeted.

If he's following you

4a. Continue flying in SC into deep space until he loses patience. Afterwards you can do a safe approach to your destination.
4b. Drop, boost away with FA off and/or silent running and wait...and wait...and wait (even if he's not dropping after you)

OR

4c. See 3a

Thanks for the responses, even if it sounded like a noobish question. So what classifies someone as a greifer in elite dangerous.

Officially it is someone that harasses or bullies another player, particularly for reasons that are non-rp/out-of-game. These players should be reported.

According to the forums, it is anyone that attacks another player. These players should not be reported, in the same way that miners shouldn't be reported for playing the game as intended.

Thankyou for seeking light on the matter in a mature fashion.

If FD could handle the matter objectively, the best thing to do is improve PvP in a way that actually allows legitimate hunting of criminals, as well as developing high risk but high reward PvP, in order to reduce the attractiveness of "pointless" murder.

According to some, anyone who isn't them is a griefer.
But a real griefer is someone repeatedly targeting you.

Most "griefers" players are actually just murderers. They're not picking on anyone in particular. Indiscriminate killing!

Open is full of players. I killed one just earlier today.

It wasn't Dylan was it? :p

The only way to ascertain if someone is a greifer is by the complete lack of "package" in their trousers so the only way they can feel "manly" is to destroy someone elses pixels. ;) Sadly there's no way of knowing that in advance.

Nah, someone else. And in my defense, they shot me first - an error on their part, they had no cargo and could have been on their way.

OP. Killing other players is accepted and sanctioned behavior in Elite Dangerous. It also makes the game a heck of a lot more fun, since having others around keeps you on your toes.

If you want some good advice on how to survive and thrive, head on over to the PvP forum. Folks love to help out there.

There is no real griefing in this game. Anything that doesn't break the game rules is permitted. People are allowed to be as big a-holes as they please as long as they don't use exploits.
