Indeed. Starving out an encircled enemy is a tried and true tactic, it's been used since entrenchments were invented.
And since Frontier has chosen not to differentiate between PvE and PvP by use of flagging, it's going to be a perpetual cycle. Fortunately, time is on the PvE side, because PvP players won't linger about in a game where they feel it's too sparsely populated by others... PvE players, on the other hand, thrive in such environments.
Sure, "griefing" will always exist. But it's going to be much easier for them to address it if there's a demonstrated way of determining "harassment" from "PvP". Use of fallacies to continue perpetuating harassment is a cop-out, nothing more. Griefers will hide under the PvP coat-tails because they can just claim they're "PvPing", even when it's quite evident that's not what they're up to. It's much easier to determine by a log when someone is trolling another player in-game when both aren't flagged for PvP.
It's truly unfortunate, for sure. Everyone *could* be in the same mode, able to choose freely which activities they wish to participate in... but until Frontier pulls their collective heads from where the sun doesn't shine and heals that bruised ego of thiers regarding not finding the Mythical Holy Grail of Gaming, this is what we're stuck with. And since many in the PvP community decided to sink the idea of flagging, they've only themselves to blame for their misfortune. I do feel sorry for those PvP players who would be accepting of a flagging solution... but all I can say is trust me, you're not alone- we're right there with you, and have been the whole time.
