Unmanaged ship is managed by...?

Well I do not have any co-pilot hired so I was very suprised when I came over to mine Krait cockpit and saw that... someone is sitting on mine chair!!!

I thought that mine commander while switching to fighter, stands up and go to fighter leaving main ship chair - it suppouse to.

Nope. Fighters are remote controlled drones with holograms piloting them.

Those fighters are "remotely controlled" by you or your hired pilot. When the fighter gets destroyed you don't die, you just go back to your main ship.

They should just purge this telepresence thing from the lore and add escape pod "limpets" to fighters, which return to the ship after fighter destruction and you have to wait until you're back before you can launch again. Telepresence breaks so many things, it's not funny.

Escape pods aren't any better though lore wise, somehow everyone seems to subscribe to some sort of Geneva Convention to leave them alone, even Thargoids (but only those of pilots federation members).

Man Escape Pods would open up many a avenue of gameplay though. I can already imagine the fun of SAR ships cruising around in CZ, having to take care to not accidentially shoot pods or SAR's (lest there be a bounty). Swooping up pods of criminals and turning them in at the Authority Contact... Rescuing your own crewmembers after a oops...

Yeah, they have to be like that because of multiplayer.

Well ok it's remote controlled but I don't look like this dude on mine sit... I don't even wear a helmet, so while I'm remote controlling a fighter i shoud be able see ME in that sit but not default HOLO.

Yea immersion cowboys, how do you explain that with lore? The RC program is in the helmet which comes on when he launches the fighter? What if he has a different colored suit on? ;)

While I can live with the short range telepresence of the SLF, I can't stand the galactic wide telepresence of multicrew, it's just a very poor lore reason and breaks lore in a number of ways.

I can see once space legs becomes a thing this telepresence thing will hopefully disapear. I hope so anyway.

Aren't YOU the immersion cowboy? People okay with remote control are the ones who don't care about immersion...

What they said.

Yes, yes and yes. Can you even imagine how much worse this telepresence nonsense will become when/if space legs are really the next big thing ? It's already a massive logical fallacy, and then your hologram starts to walk ? Possible even touches stuff ?

I suspect that once legs launches, most of the telepresence handwavium will go away.
