I dont understand. I am sitting in my SRV on a planet 12600ly from home.
I am on a flat plain nowhere near mountains. The planet i am on is only .5g.
There is noone else for hundreds of light years around.
I finish picking up the minerals i need and recall the ship.
Message Mothership hull critical
Emergency ship destroyed.
No reason. No warning.
I had hundreds of systems worth of scan data on board and still had a long trip planned. Hull was at 99% when i landed - gently.
Can anyone shed light on why this might have happened. Does it mean that now while exploring we cant afford to take the risk of landing to explore or ship will just explode for no reason.
Maybe it has been told to you before..... power priority!!
This happens if you set all modules at "1"
I guess, you had the SRV originally deactivated and around 98% power consumption. When you have landed than, you need to activate the SRV hangar to go out, but you can not deactivate it.
So when you dismiss than your ship, your thrusters will go back online WITH the active SRV hangar. The ship disappears somewhen, but when recalling, the ships power consumption is above 100% and ALL modules will go offline!!! the thrusters will fail and the ship is falling down like a stone!
Remember always to set proper power prioritys when using more power than you have!
Here i give you an example how you should set your power prioritys to avoid such deadly accidents:

You can activate the SRV hangar and dismiss the ship. The SRV hangar will shut down himself and the thrusters have still power due to different power groups. ALWAYS check your prioritys!!!
I think we're gonna read more of this. The engine pips bug is still not fixed.
You were on a 0.5G planet which is not a lot but I can imagine more ships getting destroyed during auto landing becuase there are no pips to the engines on high G planets.
Anyway did you have the chance to see your ship during the recall? Have you seen it falling or spawning at all? Or was it just a message with absolutely no evidence that your ship was anywhere near?
I don't think, that this is a problem. On Achenar 3 i have called back my Anaconda "Pheynix".
So 6.77 g versus 5D thrusters in 4-0-2 pip mode set by AI, and she made a very smooth touch down
