This idea still falls under Splitting modules for two Items Fuel scoop and Fuel tank. It just a BAD idea. I rather have engineering fuel scoops can scoop faster.

You've been firmly against every idea so far

How is this that big of a leap of imagination for you.

An engineering mod is not splitting modules!

This would only use leftover cargo space up to a point.

... there isn't leftover cargo space for 16t of fuel in a SideWinder with a Class 1 Fuel Scoop installed - it has 2x Class 2 slots and 2x Class 1 slots - less the Class 1 for the fuel scoop and there's only space for 10t of Cargo Racks.

I like the idea of being able to store fuel, it makes sense to have a spare can of petrol in case you run out.

Although as long as if you get your ship destroyed there is an epic scale explosion, that would be gr8.
 
The fuel scoop is an electromagnetic field generator that creates a magnetic field that captures charged particles in the suns coronasphere and guides it to the fuel intake and into the fuel tank, I'm not exactly sure where in an electromagnetic field generator you would store fuel. Why not just add an extra fuel tank?

Because limpets require cargo racks
 
Although I’m not in favour of this idea, I do like the concept of being able to fill your tank from hydrogen fuel you may have bought as regular cargo.... allows you to have extra fuel that won’t be used unless you choose to transfer it. Could also work in combination with fuel transfer limpets so I can go rescue someone without using my own fuel up to refuel them.
 
not to hijack the thread, but it would be good to be able to toggle off the second tank and have a dump fuel option.

No offence OP but I would surmise we have more than enough fuel options already in game.
I suspect we will be skimming gas giants for fuel as well at some point.
 
Stop confusing the OP with facts. It's a lame idea AT BEST not worth considering to be implemented.

Hoo boy the elitists are coming out of the woodwork if we left everything to you nothing would change for the better and you'd drive off new and existing casual players.

And the fuel scoop has a tank and will fill it first

Then generate one ton increments of cargo stored fuel.

I recon you could not do this without a refinery to package the fuel and put it in the cargo hold. I think you’d be better served by adding a fuel tank, but the could add the option to switch it off in the modules menu. At that point you have a spare tank that won’t be used or counted towards your total until switched on.

I agree with you.

Hay Avow555 if you read any of the DDF Archives forums. The Devs at the time had a few good ideas with gas Giants it just has not been added yet.
