Why FSS Mode Must Go

Same thing here. Not playing that stupid and pathetic FSS arcade minigame anymore.
Explorers asked for C O N T E N T, and FD came with this crap.

Well, this explorer has been asking for discovery gameplay since the Alpha, and the utter lack of it until 3.3 had me Buckyballing it back to the Bubble after about a week out of sheer ennui. Now thanks to the brilliant FSS, I’ve been out there three months and still going strong.

Dec 11th IIRC, so just over 7 weeks. Bit of a stretch to start talking about longevity based on such a short period.

It was Dec 11th, the beta ran for a month before that of course. And how long it's been depends more on how many hours the player puts in than the actual dates imo.

Then enjoy your brilliant "FSS-Tourism Office" discovery gameplay, "Explorer".

Yeah. Real time elapsed has never been as relevant as actual play time. I mean, I could venture out now, stop playing after a week, then come back a year later, and say "I've been out for a year". Or play one hour a week.

Why do you always have to resort to trolling. Darkfyre was perfectly reasonable and you are like this.

Also your description is farcical.

Max...

More like bordering on baiting. Darkfyre's reply can be summed up as "I read your opinion, but I find the FSS brilliant, and the exploration you used to like was terrible".

And that is fair comment marx. Darkfyre takes the view that provided it is no compulsory fitment the return of the ADS would not be a problem, which in my view is a reasonable stance to take. The OP in this thread takes an unreasonable view that others should be denied something that works for them.

That's the thing-- I think if we got at least some of the old ADS honk functionality back, via an optional module, it would make a lot of people happy. It seems like the "least evil" way to give functionality back to those who want it, but not force it on those who don't.

As much as I hate repeatedly going in circles on this, I do hope that FDev at least considers the above. Personally I like the FSS as a replacement for the artificial scan timers we used to have, but I too would like the old honk data back as well, if it becomes an option.

Well we are all allowed to voice our opinions, by they should be courteous about it which Scytale seems to find impossible.

I don't like the old version but have no issues with others liking it. Each to their own.

See, but ignoring what POIs might be down on planets is exactly what Frontier don't want explorers to do. One of the aims of the new system was that players shouldn't miss the content that the devs put out there.

....

I don't know if it has been mentioned elsewhere but you don't have to loiter on that for it to resolve. It is odd, some bodies with POIs resolve immediate, others get the "spinny" effect for a few seconds before resolving. If I get a "spinny" I back out and scan a couple more bodies. When I come back to it the scan has finished and resolved.

Of course I would much rather have the "scanning" resolve itself but the delays have been so long at times that I decided just to wait a little and then move on. I do of course go back if nearby to see if it has resolved (often it has but many times it has not).

Similarly if there was a way of interrogating one's scan after doing the zooming (completing system scan) then there would be no problem, unfortunately there is nothing but "volcanism" to see in the system map and it seems nothing else is passed to the journal either. So pen and paper or nowt it seems. ;)

Now in "target" type systems, of course I pay more attention to surface features but in the main, extending the scan time of a system with large numbers of icy bodies by the huge amount that the scan delays cause is just not worth it in my view. Hopefully the server issues that I presume are the cause of these delays will improve in future (touch wood).

I, for myself, would even be more than happy if I could revert MY game to pre-3.3. even when I would have to be playing a "standalone" and solo-only version of ED.
I have no need of all this fancy bugged "new" content, this absurd PP and BGS, the inconsistent and pathetic "story-lines", these redundant new ships or this meaningless Codex.
Just give me the beautiful Stellar Forge and a Sidey.
Just give me "Elite: Explorers".
Please.

Yeah well when you look at the results of the latest update and the complaints seemingly from every direction now the novelty of stuff has worn off. The steam charts that were an advert a few days ago are showing a distinctly downward turn. Is the game dead? No but its definately sick.

It's just as sick and doomed as before.
