This is ridiculous and against Elite Dangerous law, to my knowledge.

Shinrarta Dezhra should be a non pvp region.

I like open play. I want to be in open play but, SD is supposed to be a safe haven for Elites (according to elite law, to my knowledge), it's bad enough that no Imperial mission givers are in JM.
On top of this getting tag teamed by pvp'ers is a total put off for non PvP'ers and noobs to pvp especially when, in some cases, it is impossible to evade interdictions or, you're interdicted one after another with no way to escape.
High wake,,, you often don't get the time to with a ps4 controller, that's for certain.

I'm gonna have to go solo unfortunately and switching from solo to open every time just ain't gonna happen. I heard open players complain that there isn't enough people in open play, if you change SD pvp I'm sure you'll see a difference.

Just a disgruntled suggestion, from a player that hasn't got the contacts to counter two pvp'ers (This happens a lot) let alone the engineering levels to compete in PvP 1v1. 😬

"1v1 mate?" After they tag team ya. HA, are you serious!?! These unpleasant people ruin the game.

Dude, that's part of the problem.
I want pvp (and eventually will start attempting it, engineering makes this difficult enough) but, SD is one place where it should not be allowed.
SD is the only place where you hit Elite and get a treat, except that treat is ridiculously sour, especially if your Imperial at heart. 😡

Exactly, Gully and I personally find that a shame for those who like the risk of open play and not the gang bang in SD.

And where the hell are those imperial mission givers? 😠

Don't blame your tools/platform. There's nothing about PS4 (my platform) that makes waking any harder. Your attackers are subject to any platform restrictions that you are.

It's a terrible suggestion to ban PvP in the one system you can reliably encounter other CMDRs (barring eravate/lhs 3447/asellus primus). Especially on console, where there are even fewer commanders.

If you actually want to stay in open safely at Shinrarta you should look into approaching the station via an arc route from system entry and then performing a spiral approach coupled with gravity well deceleration at the end. This won't shake all gankers, but it will shake some.

let alone the engineering levels to compete

I do agree the engineering grindwall is unfortunate, and a geniune problem. However, FDev imposed this, not gankers.

I agree, OP. A permit locked system for those who attain Elite in the Pilot's Federation absolutely should not be full of people trying to murder others in the same Federation. It makes no sense at all, and those who turn against the authority of the Pilot's Federation in their home system should lose their permit and ranking.

It is one of the busiest systems in open, so anyone wanting to attack people is going to want to park themselves here as its one of the few places you're guaranteed to find someone. Only advice is to watch out for hollow yellow triangles on the radar. If you see any, throttle back, drop out of supercruise and then jump to a new system. Then come back in solo.

I don't agree with random attacks for no gain, but I do have sympathy with the lack of options they have for PvP, especially on ps4 (CQC is completely dead and I get why some people want to PvP in their own ships anyway).

Dextok, There's also the fact that you'd need to keep changing key bindings for different missions.

Un-engineered ships shields etc drop too quickly, you don't get the time to D pad then shuffle down to a different system, you die, even if you're a reasonably experienced player...

What? Sounds like you're doing something wrong. There should be no problems high waking with a ps4 controller. I've been back on ps4 controller since my hotas broke for 2 months now. I've been interdicted many many times in Shinrarta and escaping hasn't been a problem.

Dekot, just an assumption on my part.

Key binding limitations etc, make sense?

None whatsoever.

You will need to develop a thicker skin. I don't personally gank in Shinrarta, but I know who does, and they will just mercilessly kill you until you are able to avoid it. Until then your choice of solo is probably best.

I suggest this to start with: https://docs.google.com/document/d/108hNUfUZJuAgCNQrjmpX14j7qv4k3TloETnwhzIMwLk

The engineering is just an unfortunate pre-requisite. Some folks (myself included) will 1v1 in their own unengineered ships upon request. This is usually at Eravate though not Shinrarta. That's how I started PvP, an unengineered viper 3 at Cleve Hub.

However in open one must be aware of the danger of murder attempts at all times. It's just the way it is.

Sorry Feros, I don't agree.

I do all of what you've suggested for starters and when people are preped for pvp , you don't get the time to high wake and are at a severe disadvantage. I'm no longer a noob, I'm not very good but I'm certainly not a noob and this crap would be impossible for noobs to counter too, it puts people off the game.

You really really really need to stop blaming your tools.

I use the same key bindings for everything. For PvP this makes the most sense - it means one will always be practicing using the exact same control set as used in combat.

The most popular PS4 bindings among PvP'ers are these: https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showt...-layout-just-got-even-better-(now-with-FA-off!

I use a very different set myself, and many good PvP'ers have spent hours if not days tweaking and then rehearsing their bindings. It needs to be second nature.

If you haven't unlocked engineers and can't survive a gank I think you are not as experienced as you assume.

Well, many of us are on PS4 using controllers and escape gank attempts in Shinrarta frequently. I've escaped no less than a dozen interdictions in the past month. It sounds like you don't know the process / steps to escape an interdiction.
