18 month without any new content for an online game could be problem. Don't see a bright future for ED unfortunately 
I cant even compute how many years from the one dlc to the other and there are people still defending this. Just wow! And they are not even telling us what is it about. They cancelled the premium content, they cancelled the carriers, they cancelled the ice planets and after the radio silence, they announced.. nothing!! Just wow!

Yep. Read "latter half of 2020" as "December 2020 at best".
And then June 2021 before half the bugs are ironed out.

I'm not getting LEP content for free... I already paid for it when I handed over my money for the LEP!
I wish I could remember the stream where one of the team mentioned that there would be a very long wait for what was going to follow Beyond. I took that, with no proof admittedly but plenty of hope, that this meant pretty much a whole new game. That perhaps they’d had a look at some of the positive and well received aspects of SC, of NMS etc and decided to pull some stuff from Chapter Four that they probably knew simply wasn’t going to be ready or good enough and put it all in to something that they could build from the foundations of Elite Dangerous.
I’ve only been playing for a little over a year so I’m still fairly optimistic having had a very much predominantly positive experience within the game. Perhaps the result of an 18-24 month wait may well change that but currently I’m excited by the prospect.
If FD are to tackle issues like instancing, the BGS and any of the other structural problems then surely it’s going to take some level of redesign. That’s before we get to adding all of the player demands like ‘legs,’ atmospheric landings or even atmospheric gas giants. If we want significant gameplay for any of these things then it can’t be a surprise that FD need the time to really plan, design and build a new foundation rather than just attempt to bolt things on to a structure using whatever sticky tape and old screws they have lying around.
As I said, I’m still fairly new, I’m not generally a shouty kind of person and I’m certainly not a game designer so I could be very wrong on so many aspects but I’m not seeing all doom and gloom.....just a long wait.
The interesting thing, as someone mentioned above, is the risk FD take in a two year ‘break’ should any new Space game come along in the mean time.
Only time will tell....as countless songs tell us.

Yep. I bought Horizons, you paid more for the LEP. We got the same thing.
Maybe in a couple of years, when they announce another content delay, they'll finally start handing out LEP refunds.
So if they're really doing this to bring big new content to the game, why wouldn't they tell us what some of that content is to keep us interested? They didn't say one word about any actual new content being developed, and that's a bit telling I think.

Its therefore essential that sometime in the next 6 months or so Frontier need to publicise more clearly what this expansion is about, be it Elite Feet, Atmospheres or something else that few have thought about. This is just so we can at least narrow down the focus of our expectations.
Already some people are expecting a god patch that includes everything. This isnt going to happen, people need to keep it real so to speak.

- Complex flora and fauna (far more random and complex than No Mans Sky)
- Proper cities on breathable worlds and huge dome cities on other worlds
- Build your own base(s) ANYWHERE... space, or planetside.
- Spacelegs
- Fully explorable space stations and building structures
