PiMAX 8K VR

The base station didn't work on channel B. It only worked on Channel A.
My single base station only works on channel B and didn´t work on Channel A with my pimax8k.

elite runs very well in the pimax8k despite a ivy 3570k (4.8ghz) and a 1080ti (2.1ghz). The newest pitool-beta allows ASW and a frequency of 72hz, which makes even 36fps look amazingly fluid. In Elite I have most settings at maximum, steamSS @ 4096x3500 and HMD Quality @ 1 ingame.

Can some one test this for me on the Pimax, I am having a strange problem with shadows when close to a star.
I notice this when fuel scooping next to a start, With the star on my right I get darker shadowing in the right eye than the left, If the start is on my left then I get darker shadows in the left eye. very strange!

Yes I get this in my 8K (reported in the bug section) and is something to do with either the rendering filter/effect only being sent to the one eye/screen or a cockpit canopy auto dimming only being applied to one eye/screen when the star is at your 9 or 3 o'clock. There were a bunch of other effects when 3.3 dropped that only got applied to one eye/screen in VR (for all HMDs iirc), so I suspect this is one that either slipped the net, or wasn't detected/reported.

It may also be more prevalent in the Pimax HMDs due to their wider field of view.

I hope it gets fixed...

I seem to only get this effect when in the FSS on my Pimax 5k+. Also there are no orbit lines in the FSS either, which is annoying.

19 Feb: Received email from pimax saying headset is on its way with Fedex tracking number.
22 Feb: Tracking number still not recognised so I replied to Pimax asking why. No response.
26 Feb (today): Tracking number still not working. Emailed Pimax again. Email bounced:

Delivery Status Notification (Failure)
The response from the remote server was:
554 RCPT (support@pimaxvr.com) dosn't exist

Went to their website and attempted to create a pimax account to contact support. Got this:

Error
Signup is not currently available


Anyone have any info? Thanks in advance.

Attempting to post on the forum takes me to the create account screen which doesn't work, as I said previously.

This is why I'm wondering if others are having similar issues.

just checked it - i could make a new account w/o problems.

This forum is about Elite Dangerous. You won't find nearly as many other ppl that might help you as compared to the official forum. You won't find a single PimaxVR staff here. Don't waste your time here, retry creating an account and go to the appropriate sub forum... Try a different browser when in doubt...

  2. Didn’t receive the headset but have some questions category for backers who purchase the headset already and waiting for their headset, ** @Matthew.Xu ** will check and give them their answer every day.
For building these two category,8K Series and 4K category will focus on discussing headset ,pitool improvement and other topics they are interested in.And we will also hold activities for attracting new enthusiasts and stimulate backers to join topics.

They are tryin to get their head around the remaining support problems. Obviously they had reorganized to cope with it. Be patient, they barely speak English and there is the time difference. It's a relatively small Chinese company after all...

Well, I'm still waiting on my replacement HMD, which arrived DOA on the 15th January.
Currently "Please wait to be contacted by courier to return unit" for almost three weeks now.

Got my Fedex number on the 19th but it didn't go active until the 26th. You should see activity any day now. My 5K+ is due Tuesday.

Sure enough, my tracking number became valid a little over a week after it was issued. And the tracking now backdates to the original pimax email. Apparently my pimax is already in Australia. :)
 
They where fairly quick to agree it was dead, but now we are going at it for return of the DOA before they will ship my replacement.

But handoff between courier companies at my border, EU vs EAA etc etc its rather infuriating :p

tolls and declaration going in is one, out seems to be another kind of nightmare.

It's a complete furball.
 
I like new tech as much as the next person and hope Primax succeeds, but this thread shows why I steer clear of start ups.
