All this speculation.... for all anyone knows - the 'big project' is a relaunch of Elite in 2020. It's possible Sandro's move awhile ago could all along be to that project and he never really left Elite, just is working on the new one.

Yes, I know there is another different IP being released, but you can be certain they are still going to be working on Elite to milk every $$$ of the cash cow it has become.g

The problem of believing this is the level of content and delivery schedule does not back your statement up where ED is concerned; are sure you weren't all set up on the occasions you and the selected few visited? It sure looks like it to me (and probably others)

Not a one off though, I've been there as I said on more than one occasion and as I'm under multiple NDA's with Frontier theirs no need to set anything up just for little old me who's normally too busy stealing anything branded I can get my hands on ahem....

Delivery schedules can slip that is true and I don't know how the timeline will change further down the line but I do know certain things like.

1) The number of staff working on ED.
2) They have no reason to pretend in front of me.
3) They hide the milk in the space bar so I can't find it.

I've seen proof.

But I cant tell you about it.

I'm not so sure you can easily separate the two... I'm not saying you're wrong, but, if enough investors leave, the game will die. And, if the game is seen as dying, investors may leave.

That said, yes, the game may live beyond the loss of investors, but... eventually, and given enough loss... it will die.

I really do fully understand that you would like to see proof and there's quite a few hundred thousand other paying customers who are also fans of Elite who would as well, but unless you get invited to tour Frontier and see for yourself then you'll have to take the word of others who have.

How much you want to believe (or disbelieve) of what's said is of course entirely up to you.

People don't invest in ED, they invest in FD. Now people might invest in FD with the primary interest being ED, but it's still FD they invest in. And as an investor if your investment is doing well, why would you pull out?

Let's face it, the current version does have limitations that can wreck the enjoyment... Thargoid Thursdays comes to mind, for starters...

What is this re-write you are talking about. It's the first I have heard of this. Please can you show me where they have said this.

What I do know is that in 2020 they intend to release an expansion for the current game.

No. They arent. They have a new game to work on now. Hence, the game killing announcement.

I think they have said there are around 100 or so people working on ED, which is not a majority of their staff, which from what I can tell is no over 400. The other 300 are the people working on the other projects.

Remember 100 is not a big team so it may well take 2 years to make something substantial like Atmospherics or Elite Feet.

Development has dropped from a season pass per year to 3 years of maintenance mode.
Multicrew and holome are the precursor to spacelegs and I feel cheated that they were ever included in Horizons.


So no, I dont feel I've had anywhere near the delivered DLC that I expect for my money and I'm disappointed that FDEV have put ED on hold until 2020 due to the new VR console releases. But then its been on hold more or less since horizons dropped.

I too feel the lifetime pass is a waste at the moment. There needs to be a HELL of a lot more content given to justify the cost. If there is ever an "Elite Deadly" to directly compete with SC then I'll be right miffed if LTP holders don't get it.
Now. If there's a good 5 or 6 updates after the 2020 update I'll be happy

Irrelavant. You have had plenty of use of horizons before the sale. Surely that is worth something? I bought horizons on pre-order, I don't begrudge those that got it cheaper then me as I have had use of it for far longer. Not really an issue.

I don't believe they gave a time on how long a season will last, but horizons was always going to be longer then a year. As to maintance mode, really? Not seeing any evidence of that so far.

Holo-me I'm reasonably happy with, but 100% agree regarding Multicrew. That should never have come until space legs/Elite Feet/EVA arrived.

Of course you haven't. But the lifetime of the game is not up yet and looks like it won't be up for some time (fingers crossed).

The problem isnt you.

We took an immersive sim, where you're more than just a ship, at face value.

We took Horizons development lasting one year at face value. More content after that, too.

We took additional seasons at face value.

Paid content in 2018: face value.

And we have received none of those. So, I'll believe it, when I see it.
