And the idiot of the week prize goes to....

I once spent an hour trying to land on a planet without owning Horizons.

I now have about 12 weeks of playtime I still manage to do dumb
things like smashing into planets or getting blown up by the station laser.

For flying 786 light years to a Guardian site before realising that I'd forgotten to change ship and had no SRV on board.

Durr!
A few weeks ago, I flew 3000 LY specifically to map one of my previous ELW finds only to realise when I got there that I had forgotten to equip a DSS...

It does exist! Operation Ida are currently repairing the starports in the Pleiades and we get a lot of our commodities from long haul (200-400 ly) trade routes!
You guys are insane.
I thought the effort had been wound back after the pace of the Thargoid invasion picked up.
Doesn't your shopping and to-do list stretch over the horizon now?

I’d say “Oops”, but “oops” doesn’t quite cover it.

I once did 14 jumps to find one of those Guardin installation things in space only to discover I couldn’t charge the parts with mining lances. That sucked too.

Right? I remember my first “long” trip. Was out to California Sector BV-Y c-7 to Darwin Research for a CG. I remember stocking up my shiny new Type 6, plotting the first leg of the route and pausing to think “am I nuts?” Now having been to the core and Colonia and everywhere else, 1K is a milk run lol.

Haul mugs (and other rare goods) from Hutton Orbital to Colonia, it'll take you to elite in no time. Although in exploration. And you'll get a sense of accomplishment.

Technically you don't need an SRV to unlock the guardian technologies. You do need someone with an SRV though to get the beacons to raise from the earth and to place the relic/key in the slot. Anything else can be done shipborne (might be tough in an Anaconda though)

On EDDB there is a station within 100LY of guardian stuff, I'd suggest going there to try and see if there are SRV's for sale and or if you could transfer either another ship / stored module across?

Dropped into a CZ with my Krait and could not deploy my NPC SLF during the fight. Realized I forgot activate my crew member. At least I did not have far to go.

Look on the bright side...... at least you haven't flown to your brand new mining system .......... got down in the rings, gone to fire your first prospector and noticed 0/0 in the limpet controller....

Bill

I mean .. who forgets their limpets?

Me! Surely every miner has done that at some point.

Edit- As for idiot of the week, can I mention the time that I tried to get a jet cone boost after forgetting that I'd taken off my fuel scoop.

In the spirit of sharing how many of you (apart from me) have spent over an hour at a neutron star trying to get the FSD Supercharged logging in and out resetting the instance restarting console etc thinking game is glitched before realising you need a fuel scoop fitted to be able to do it?

I spent around an hour doing this at one point before I realised what was wrong. :D

In my case it was even worse in that I knew that you needed a fuel scoop. I can't remember why I took it off, but there was a reason (playing round with hrps maybe). I was in an FDL so there really wasn't a lot of fuel left after the next jump. I'm sure the fuel rats are patient people, but I'd have forgiven them for leaving me behind with that one. Nowadays the fuel scoop only comes off with single jump cargo runs.

Must be something in the water... there I was at Ms. Farseer not at all happy with my newly uprated FSD ..... so thought I go get a Guardian FSD booster thingy... so off I trundle, jump, grind and trundle some more; away's a way off to distant Synufe GT-H B43-1... I happily land on planet C4 and as the Guardian structure looms out of the misty gloom (and when I eventually find level ground) my landing legs settle into the planetary dust and my drive whines down for a good rest, I eagerly bring up my centre panel .......WHOAAAAHHHH! where the hell's the deploy button...where's my SRV????? (it'sssss back in the bubble you plonker Commander Hems303!!!).....that was yesterday!

o7 ...... so Stabby_Dave; I'm in good company with you mate!

This is really a question.. sorry if hijacking OP..... Is it worthwhile a lone commander trying to haul 'stuffs' in to repair these damaged ports?

I've been seen, repeatedly, leaving a station happily with an SRV bay installed, only lacking the actual vehicle inside.

Yes, why do they sell the buggies separately? It's not as if you can use the hanger for anything, so why would you buy a hanger without wanting to use the Buggy.....Only bleating as like you sir, i have been found guilty of doing this, not once, not twice, but 3 times!!!

Done that, too. And the fuel scoop one, and the forgetting to pick up the mission cargo one.

Come to think of it, I've made every stupi mistake there is. I think.
