Sorry, but to me it is just wrong. I never watched South park, but after researching I can see what the reference is. I certainly would not want my kid to watch that South Park episode, so I guess that is why I would not use him/her/whichever in my park in case I make a video for youtube where youngsters would see it.
Loved watching this mascot during the live streams, bouncing along the park and interacting with the guests. This will certainly be a favourite for me.
I don't think kids would recognise the South Park similarity or go searching for it, nor do I honestly think it is an intentional reference. It's a daft design, and daft things do often make me laugh as this does, but really the design fails for me as it lacks a "cosmic" connection and, as I wrote before, bouncing around on a space hopper is utterly unrealistic in a public space from a health and safety point of view since (imagining it in reality) you'd have to assume the mascot's vision would be hampered by wearing the mask, so they could bump into things, people, children...etc....
In my opinion, Cosmic cow is the best of all mascots. I first thought it was kinda weird to see her be bouncing with her utters, but then i thought what if i was a kid. Think that you were kids, and go to a park with that kinda mascot. You would be like "Mom! Look at that funny cow with a bouncy ball!" Kids are loving it! I showed it to my 4 year old sister and she loved it too.
I am assuming people know what a space hopper is. (I don't think it was just a UK thing)

Probably in the UK but known by weird names in the US like 'hippity hop' and 'sit n bounce'
I still think the mascot is inappropriate, just something about the bright pink colour, location and the squelchy sounds it makes. Ok you have to make a slight leap but it's not hard to make a dirty connection. Plus it's not going to please the vegan brigade either...
But looks like they've decided to run with it judging by the most recent videos....hopefully none of the big reviewers and general public decide that it is inappropriate.
Seriously - its an udder as a ball - people get far to upset over things. The fact people are making the leap to something inappropriate says more about them than anything else. I thought it was a space hopper.
Plus if vegans are going to get upset over anything its the fact they are selling burgers not a person in a costume - that's a strawman argument .

People just like to get offended at things in their own mind. They chose to get offended at something that was innocent and fun. Instead of just thinking they might be reading to much into something - its a cow on a space hopper they want that thing to change so they don't have to admit they might be a little bit wrong.
Interesting that since A3's release with the new mascots I personally haven't seen one negative comment about the Cosmic Cow's in-game animation. Those who weren't too keen on it initially has your view changed since A3 came out?

So I kind of feel differently about it now, I think it may have been the lighting in the first video we saw that looked odd, maybe the nipples are less long now, but it didn't look as bad, on the other hand, I had a BBQ on Sat, and put the video on and friends were like "what the" so... its growing on me.

My views haven't changed. I remember a Frontier member posted to the forums in reply to one of my concerned comments about this mascot, saying the development team had taken note of the feedback. Sadly it seems they have not responded to it. I don't have access to the ALPHA but I did see the video and the Cosmic Cow mascot bouncing around the park and I still think it's a bad design. It's too easy to poke fun at and all you have to do is look at comments on all videos he appears in and you'll see such comments appear. I love the Cosmic Cow branding and will use it in my parks, but the mascot won't be in my parks. I'm saddened that the developers didn't take on board all the feedback they got and refine the mascot as it would have been great to use him, just not in his current state.
I still find this mascott weird, but I have the choice to not use it, so I'm fine with it... if some people like this mascott, good for them.

Mania Muse : I think most vegans and vegetarians, would just think it was a game character and not get too worked up about it tbh.
