Planet Coaster at E3?

What's wrong with it? Certainly looks vastly superior to the 'competition's' and would guess they're still working on it to make it look incredible [up]

Looks like a mirror. Seemed to me the hugh animatronics had not really effects on the surface. Expected more movement of the water there.
I think it is disappointing.

I think the water looks pretty real. In real life, water can look very different depending on the amount of waves, the depth, time of day, angle of view, etc.

This water looks like a realistic very calm lake. The only thing it doesn't have (yet) is interaction with the scenery objects - especially the kraken animatronic. But I do notice how the scenery gradually disappears below the surface like in real life.

Hopefully, there will be variations in the water. More waves and ripples in larger bodies of water or with increasing wind from weather. Also, maybe the option for how "clear" the water is since in some water you can barely see below the surface, yet some other water is super clear and you can see many feet below.

That's it. It looks like a calm lake.

Seems there are no waves. Ripples yes.

I think the lift of the animatronics would create waves which last. Some displacement there when the hugh thing is lifted and moving.

Bearing in mind that water is still being worked on and not released till Alpha Phase 3 at earliest it is coming along nicely. Yeah physics with moving scenery is there but clearly wind/breeze is affecting it, the reflective side of things looks good and it's a clear improvement over any other game in this genre so far.

Considering it's not official you seem to be over critical at this point. Wait for it to be in game for us and give the feedback then. For now at least we can see they are working on it as well as other things we haven't seen yet.

It is the first time the whole thing irritates me a bit.
Water, recolouring flats, ride operators shown to the press, artwork shown on facebook. But the Alpha playes have to search for themselves. And as many know i defended a lot here.

So as we have nothing else to discuss on, we do it on that video/screenshot. And that does not look right to me.

I have to say I would quite like it if things would be posted here on the forums too as I personally don't use any form of social media other than the occasional forum and I know I'm not the only one. I know the CHC gets to see things early but it would be nice if there was somewhere in the forum that we could have the social media updates too.

Yeah, indeed. [sad]

I do not want to start a drama, so I would not say much, but ... it's not the first time in fact, that the community complains to learn things elsewhere than on the official forum AND that they do not post on the forum what they post on Facebook. They made a promise about that, but they have not kept this promise. Certainly because they are too busy, I don't know.

Anyway, it's like that.
We already tried to change that, we failed.

The water looks good to me when viewing that screenshot. It is only a very small sneak peak so my opinion could change.

I still hear they are on track for release in Q4. I don't mind not hearing much, but in return i do hope we get more content and more updates. Really need another theme of scenery pieces to play with.
Btw, be glad you didn't watch the AMD PC show, because it was dramatically bad and was the worst thing for E3 with next in line the EA press conference. I can understand in this case why there isn't an official post about it, because it wasn't anything we haven't seen and the water is still a work in progress (they don't want to give us impressions that could change in the future).

Remember that water isn't out yet. I would save any criticism until we have it in-game ourselves in case it changes :p

I agree it would be nice to have the water moved by objects - but did you really 'expect' it? Almost seems like a high expectation for god view game like this. I've no doubt it will ripple and reflect and look quite beautiful in the final game... but you want it to splash around volumetrically when stuff breaks the surface? Is that what you were expecting all along from this sort of game?

Maybe my expectations are too low - your comment just surprised me a bit.

I totally agree. People keep expecting more and more. It's a park simulator game, not a real life simulator. I rather have Frontier investing their time in other stuff than making something like this to work.

I hate to burst everyone's bubble, but...that clip was introduced as community created shots/videos...that means this is not the water from the game....its not released yet. Look carefully at where the water meets the scenery objects...its blurry/faded. This is a user that post edited the shot with some sort of reflective special effect.

Erm, what? The ride operators have they been post edited too? Some clips are clearly from their latest internal build.

It appears to be community created content but it's been recorded by frontier on their latest build, so they've been able to add things like water and ride ops.

I don't think all of those shots are community creations, some of them yes, but not the shot of the kraken in the water. Some of those "community creations" are new like of silvarets Convention Center and were not seen before, so its obvious the DEVs have been working with some of these guys to make videos like this. Also, the ride operators are clearly from a new unreleased build. So, no the water is not a "photoshop" I hope this is all ready for Alpha 3 [big grin]
