Coaster Smoothness

In my opinion it is not necessary to improve the smoothness of coasters due to the fact that PlanCo is not a professional coaster builder like NoLimits, but a themepark manager/simulator where other things (managment, AI, tricky challenges, selection/numbers of rides etc.) should be more important than a perfectly smooth coaster. But as I already mentioned: It's just my opinion. ;)

Sure, thats the beauty of PlanCo in my opinion. People want to and can play for different reasons.

Better coaster smoothness would be a nice addition but personally im not bothered in any way by the current coasterbuilder.

If the game was more focussed on gameplay and strategy, then I would partly agree with you.
But the game is mostly about looks, aesthetics and building. So there is no reason why a game that lets you built intricate theming won´t allow you to go to the n-th degree with coaster design.

If they can just tweak it a little bit more, I would love it, other than that, I think it's a good coaster builder as it is now.
It's not NoLimits level, but at least better than RCTW and the older RCT games which was so limited and gave no freedom.

Yeah I think that the Coasterbuilder is not smooth enough BUT I find that there are more important parts in the game that needs attention

Its not nolimits. but its Planet Coaster...there is and has always been a huge emphasis on coasters so you would think they would have nailed it but sadly it is lacking still.

the other side of the this is..its not no limits so why is the management side of things extremely underwhelming?

but I have learned to I love plant coaster for it is.
D
ont get me wrong but its certainly not the same game I was hoping it would be when it was first in development, but it does still provide hours of fun (a little annoyances but still)
But I have faith at some point an update will fix the problems...got to believe havent we!

Great to hear that.

That is what it was build for.

It's just a game..... I hope some people realize that someday.

I think the biggest annoyance is it could be something way beyond what any of us have wanted! ive been in full support of them fixing the coasters. While it still annoys the life out of me, you can still build some nice things.

I just hope with Jurassic coming out they dont forget bout PC. I'm still hoping the coasters get a tweak and so does management.

Good thread!

Also, has anyone noticed something different about the smooth tools? It seems they preserve track shaping and heartlining a bit better, although they dont make the track anymore smooth than usual.

Yes, it's a little bit better.

Are you sure?
I haven´t noticed anything different.
What do you reckon has changed exactly?

I have the feeling the transitions work better now.
It would of course only apply to newly build coasters.

Now, It's a feeling. It's not something I can point out and say yeah, that is better, but I have the feeling like Chems says as well, the transitions seem to be better.

Would love to have an official word on this, because coaster smoothness is not mentioned in the patch notes. It feels like the smoothing tool preserves track shaping and heartlining better than before. It also feels stronger; when applying the smoothing method that utilizes short (4-5 meter) track pieces it seems you don't need to smooth it as often as before the 1.7 update.

If there indeed has been a change to the smoothing, that means Frontier is actually working on it which is great! ...Or maybe we are just seeing things, who knows? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I'm unsure if people would be interested, but I put another vid together using the coasters that don't have wobbly/unstable cameras~

Will also mention, the wooden wild mouse doesn't have banking offset so the roll was a bit eh (though smooth even though the shape is a bit jank)

Bought ALL DLCs, yesterday, to support the Devs - so they have enough money to work the kinks out of the coaster smoothing![up]

I'm the opposite... I will buy all the DLCs when coaster smoothing is fixed since there's no other way to represent this feature monetarily

I mean, that makes more sense... I'm at a stand still at the moment, each time I make a coaster it bothers me, but also I was doing some asian themeing and the roofs refuse to line up :/ the Worlds Shop Pack only has 2 windows :/
