Guests or Peeps?

[up] [up] [up] [up] [up]

I personally love to call them guests, and as a volunteer moderator I'm with you 100% on using guests instead of 'peeps'. [big grin]

Like you and other members have said in this thread, 'guests' sounds like something you can connect to, it sounds more professional. Guests in Planet Coaster are little people that you can care about and have a sort of personality. They do have a lovely design in my humble opinion.

To me personally, 'peeps' sounds like a cheap thing. It's a word I personally find not worthy to use for the guests in Planet Coaster.

But like other members have said, Planet Coaster is just a game, although a great game (I think), but it is a game, and hence it does not contain 'real' people but only digital representations of people. Anyone can call the Planet Coaster guests how they would like to call them, whether it may be guests, peeps, people, or something else.

I personally like to use the word 'guests'. [big grin] [up]

I do like peeps though.... Though it does make me think of the marshmallow candy...

I think they have to show some professionalism, that's why he said guest. But he said something colloquial which I kind of like too "little visitors", instead of just "visitors". Peps/Peeps is common too. I actually like how Frontier staff participate on this site. I wish Microsoft did this for their Xbox forums, have actually staff (they have mods and official support staff). This game lets us create what we want how we want on our maps. Probably others call the people homies or patrons or citizens or AI or other things. We call it what we want. I think the younger group including me prefer peps/peeps (yes there's 2 ways to spell it) as it's like a fashion/slang. Or, you can call them by their real names. When you click on one of your peps/guests/AI, or whatever you call them, it shows them their first and last name which is given by the game.

Urban Dictionary lists Peps as "short for people". I asked my phone what the definition of peeps is. It said and showed me the result
peeps
/pi:ps/
noun informal
people (often used to refer to a person's friends or associates.).

We do associate with the AI while playing this game. And playing this game is a hobby thus 'informal'. Everyone is welcome to call them what you want. I asked my phone (for the fun of it) what the definition of associate is: "connect (someone or something) with something else in one's mind". And this is what we do when playing this game. We see all these AI/guests/peps/peeps/patrons or an AI called "Jessica Giles" < I briefly watched one of my uploaded YouTube videos to find a name. I know several Youtubers who like the AI in this game. She even said she stalks them or click on families and follow them around.

As for the AI in this game, I love how Frontier makes them. There's quite a bit of variety too in the AI's too, and I like their expressions too. They don't just walk in single file with no expression/emotion.

Yeah and that's the very reason we are able to associate with the people/peeps/whatever you want to call them. Although the AI is probably no where near finished in the current alpha build, they are still very believable and its easy to get immersed in the game.

"Guests" is indeed more professional, cold, impersonal, formal, distant, academic, and proper.

"Peeps" is endearing, warm, casual, relaxed, personal, close, and friendly.

Personally, I see it the other way around. I care for guests, who I want to give a warm, casual, relaxed and friendly experience (in real life). While I do see "peeps" as casual, I personally see it as a kind of "street language", which I find personally not worthy to use for the characters that visit my parks.

Also personally, I do not consider "guests" as professional, cold, impersonal, formal, distant and so on. I personally think companies that consider guests that way, should rethink about that. Guests should feel welcome and experience a friendly environment, instead of a business environment. I personally consider that more rewarding.

Personally I always hated "peeps" in RCT and called them guests. Now we have two coaster games, I've not really been following "the other one" - do they still call theirs "peeps", if so then I think peeps belongs over in that other coaster game, while we stick the a more grown up term of Guests.

But no matter what we use on the forum, I think everyone understands what we mean, it's just personal preference. Peep, guest, patron etc.

But I vote "Guest".

Yes they do still call them peeps in RCTW. Which is also part of the reason I don't like it [cool]

It's all down to personal preference. I always called them peeps playing RCT games with my son and nephews. I have good memories of those lazy afternoons building parks together.

I thought they were "labeled" as guests in the originals RCT too, at least it called them guests in the corner where it showed you how many guests you had in the park. Everybody just called them peeps for some reason, and seriously who cares why... Does this really make that big of a deal what people call them?

Peep = simulated video game characters that are non-controllable and usually in mass crowds
Peeps = piles of sugar molded into the shape of little baby chickens and dyed various colors [haha]

lets just call them victims

Have to admit i say "peeps" a lot of time ...

I use it because i have good memory's of the term back from RCT3. Guests for some reason sounds so serious. Like i hold their hand and guide them trough my park the whole time. Can't really explain...

I tend to call mine guests. But whatever floats your boats! So long as they pay money to get in my park and they enjoy themselves, then who cares? :p

Sorry. Still getting the hang of this 'forum' business.

Totally agree, except PEPS (met, set, bet, let, get, jet) is not how you pronounce PEEPS (meet, greet, feet, sweep, street). So I wouldn't say theres 2 ways to spell it, only a right way and a wrong way.

*Can somebody tell me how to edit or delete my prior post?*

Google peps and there is a result in urban dictionary. Peps is short for people. We are also allowed to have imperfect grammar its a social site not school or work. Peps and peeps are informal for people. On the xbox forums one of my friends spells crazy kwazy. It adds some fun and informal-ty on a social site. Not everyone is going to have the same maturity levels as others.
